I'm smoking the fan belt right now. Not to mention my alternator is about to **** the bed. I'm looking at the Gilmer drive kits, and wondering if it's worth the money. Is anyone running something like this? Yeah it's a big belt, and billet pulleys, but I've got plenty of room, and a can of black paint. I also need to get a better mount for the alt., but I think I have that figured out. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o> </o> <o>Thanks,</o>
Worth the money? No. Alternators and generators have been driven adequately by V belts for decades. If you've got a problem with the mount, or whatever, spend less money and fix that so that the V belt works efficiently. Bob
Had one, the alt turns to slow at idle chewed through belts, wore the teeth of the water pump pulley all round pain, glad to see the back of it
Thanks for the info guys. It sounds like my inner mechanic was not so dumb. I'm reworking the alt. mounting, and checking the pulley alignment. Still going to need a new alt and belt, but that's nothing. Thanks again.
