Howdy, I've got a 352 T-Bird Special in my '62 Galaxie that I want to build for speed. I'm thinking aluminum edelbrock heads, bored .050 over with a 390 rotating ***embly and flat tops. My question is can you buy a blower that'll bolt onto this engine? I don't see many blown FE's in my parts. Also, any cam suggestions? what compression ratio can I expect? I'm blower uneducated. I had a '59 Revell Corvette as a kid with twin roots' on it, will these fit a fomoco? Thanks.
FE blower intakes are rare and often expensive. I think Dyer's makes a kit (www.dyersblowers.com). Check out the Ford FE Forum (http://www.network54.com/Forum/74182/). A couple of those guys are running blowers, they will be better able to help you with cam selection and CR. Good Luck and Post pics when you get it done.
Yes Blue Thunder has one. Try Barry R at Survival Motorsports in Michigan he has a web site and offers the Supercharger manifold. Movin/on
Thanks for the info. So I take it you can't run old roots or weiand stuff. Anybody know why blowers and FE's are rarely used- lack of available blowers I'm guessing.
Check a company called DOVE. The make all kinds of FE engine parts and I believe they make a blower intake.
the blowers are rare plus you will need to run a extremly low comp ratio around 8 to 9:1. Look into isky cams they may have a blower cam for it. You can run a long duration cam with a high lift but the lob seperation and duration at .050 is what you need to worry about. Also a nitrous grind cam will also work for a blower.
Found some 671 and 871 complete blower kits on the Dyers Blower site that will fit 390FE so should fit my 352 me thinks. Thanks for the link Frozenmerc. They're not givin em away- $3850.00 for 871! Thank god the canuck buck is par with the greenback
Yea, Dyer's is pretty proud of his stuff. Hope it works for you. I can tell that the C$ is up, you can't throw a rock in Grand Forks, ND these days with out hitting a Canadian.
Plenty of them out there.....just not as common as a blown SBC. Call Don Hampton. We've had good service from him over the years and he's pretty good about returing calls and answering all kinds of questions. http://www.hamptonblowers.com/index.html -Bigchief.
Your stock compression will be too high, you'll have to likly buy blower pistons to get it down as stated above. Heads will work though you may want larger exhaust valves. Adjustable valve train is a must also. Have fun!
Need Forged Pistons, Low Compression, Good Flowing Heads, Blower Cam & HD Valve Springs/Pushrods for a 6-71. Look to spend around $4,500+ for a new blower setup from Carbs to Intake.
