You run 19" Wires with a 409 so I'm not taking your point as valid.:D:D:D:D

It shouldn't be about whether or not it's over used. It should however be about was it used and did it make waves and shape Hot Rodding in one way or another. Both of those questions can be answered both with a firm yes. Every motor that's popular in Traditional Hot Rods was because it was cutting edge for it's time.

Flathead? First M*** Produced V8 that they could get their hands on.
Olds/Caddy? First OHV engine to give the Flatheads compe***ion.
Hemi? Drag Racing's motor of choice in the 60's
Chevy? High reving motors that took every engine by surprise.

You ask any of the guys that were around back then and they'll tell you that the Chevy V8 is traditional as it gets. It's the motor that changed the game and had everyone chasing them.

Oh and there is a world of difference between a Early Chevy V8 (265,283,327) from the later ones. I have a flathead, a Cad V8, A Hemi and a 265 Chevy and finding the correct parts for the Chevy is sometimes just as difficult as the rest. Finding a knowledgeable builder for a 265 is just like finding someone to work on that 8ba Flathead.

This thread just like the rest of them is silly.

At least I didn't start with the thought if the tread being silly and then write 225 words right?:D:eek::rolleyes: I came to that conclusion after writing all that info then realizing that I am trying to convince no one.

I just think there is nothing cooler then a properly built Chevy motor.....but that goes with any motor really. I have seen a lot of early Hemi's that have been dressed wrong and not built or just slapped in there that bore me. But take that motor and put the right parts on and make it sounds nice......now it's a Hot ROd Motor!!!

If you wanna drive it from Barstow to Buffalo, use a small block Chevy.
If you wanna tow it from Barstow to Bakersfield, use anything you want.

WOW...poor enginering? you do know more v8 chvy. engines have been sold than any other engine in the world. but the subject was are they traditional, how could anyone argue their not. i'am a die hard chevy man, but even i admit they have become cookie cuter and way over done. wouldn't we all rather have a chrysler HEMI...POP.

I guess brand allegience is like religious affiliations---every one of them knows that they're right.

I couldn't have said it better if you run a small block deck it out with rare ****. Thats what i am doing

  21. obviously those are refering to the racing part of my statement and the flathead and 235 are refering to the traditional, **** i have to hold your hand?

  22. and as for you mister wire wheel, i have a set of hurst slicks on halibrand kidney beans, "mock up" isnt the same as "running" compadre!

    now where was i?...

  23. but i do still love you,

now that ive expressed my opinion i do think i should say, its kinda a stupid point. like brothers fighting...

at least were arguing over whats mroe traditional, and not how to make a rat rod, street rod, rice rocket, drifter car, or any other style of car that we all can agree has no place in this world.

That does remind me, in the disgustign rat rods i see not the borderline ones or barn finds, but the built to be god awful and shame mankind as a whole... those all ALL have SBC's maybe that makes them quilty by ***ociation for some people, dunno.

back in that post was this..>
if one of you guys that cringe each time you see an SBC in a Rod..than just go throw me a nice Hemi or Nail head all done up..I'll put it in there just to keep you from being offended..as long as its your money...any offers?
