Great show so far. My contributions for the week:

First up, a little Pontiac excitement [IMG]. I am doing a vertical version of this one for forsakenfew for little art for parts swap we have going on.

Second, just another panel in my quest to get better.

Some very cool art once again. Here is something I have been working on for my Dad.

  15. Wow George, that pontiac piece turned out great. The panel is nice too.

    N8inks,

Thanks, I did this mostly in Illustrator then took it into Photoshop to doll it up a bit. It's about 80% Illustrator, even most of the blends on the cars. I have been playing around with the new Illustrator and LOVE it!

I have been meaning to tell you that your stuff ROCKS! I find it so hard to try and go do traditional drawings again. Maybe next week I'll scan in some of my traditional stuff and put it up.

I Love Mcphail's art but know I can't affor it so I started this one to at least try to fool myself.

This was my first attempt with watercolor. I'm thinking my neice could have done better, but she's not as good with crayons as I am!

And this is a clip board I painted for my neice. She's been bugging me to do it so now she can get off my ***! She's a tough li'l 5 year old!

This is something I saw in the parking lot here at work. I was shocked to think there is someone cool in my building, but ultimatly p***ed it off as an isolated incident.

  19. Here's a project I'd been working on as a historical piece. It turns out a friend of mine's father had a '29 Ford that was very successful in the Fargo and C***elton area in the 60s. It set a track record at Brainerd in July '68 and eventually they took 'er to Indy. We worked on this piece to get framed and give to his dad as a Christmas gift. What's here is a rough "comp". I'll post a better one later when I get home. Hope you guys like it, after doing this one, I'm looking to do some additional art.

Here's a little early iron that's at my in-laws. I don't do a lot of automotive art but thought this would fit in here.

  22. Sean,
Thanks for the props. Check out the website. There's stuff on there, but that 'ol page is in SORE need of an update (a mechanic's car is never fixed, right?). But in the meantime, here's an old image I posted back in September.

    Caffiene....

when you great pinstripers make the tear drops that are often in the top center of pinstripe designs, what brush do you use to make the fat inner color? (like the one you have posted here)?

or do you just use more of the bottom of the mack brush and turn it to make it fatter? that must be hard though to stay within curved lines.

i want to start trying that effect.

    thanks

i cant speak for the great pinstripers.....but I use a mack 00...I just make a few lines...or put more of the brush down.

if you look at it as making another teardrop within that teardrop......then just filling that teardrop in....its kinda easier i guess.

    LOL,

cool, thanks. I never actually seen anyone pinstripe in person so i had to ask.

I'll go practice. I finally learned how to pallete my brush well. that took some practice. now my line thickness is consistent but i still need great practice for overall design.

Man, y'all do some nice work! I don't see how y'all can get those pinstripes so nice! I like those renderings, & the drag race scene, too.

Back in the early '80's, I was trying to be an "arteest", working on paintings at night, while working a regular 8-5 during the day. At that pace, I was only able to complete 4 paintings a year, & eventually, I got burnt out.

These are all acrylic on canvas, & most of them are fairly large. The copper Caddy is 5 feet wide. That one & the 2 black Ford paintings have been sold, but I still have the red Caddy & the hubcaps. I attached another view of the hubcap painting to give an idea of the size.

I got a cool gift for Christmas, Done by our very own 50dodge4x4. It's desk top art work of my Roadster, with a lot of nice details like the headers, and the headlight and axle locations dead on.

    Gene Rules!
