Does anyone have the template or the blueprint for making the rear disk brake brackets that either bolt on or weld on to the housing or flange,as the case may be? Has anyone left a "how to" in the archives on this? Is this one of those things that I'd be better off to buy them from Speedway or Summit or someone like that? Part or page #? I have asked the junk yardman for a pair but he wants to sell me a whole rear end. Thanks in advance for any help received...Mikey
There is a seller on ebay that has the brackets for most rears. The design uses the Cadillac calipers. My son & I installed a set on a Ford 8.8 rear and they worked well and were easy to adapt the emergency brake cables also. Here is a link 120401104378
i used ford explorer rear disc brake set up on my 9 inch they sell a kit but there are plenty in junk yards
i dont know if its worth a **** or if it works on a ford 9 seems it will work on any rear end with a 3 in tube. dont know enough to know if that applies. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/GM-Caliper-Brackets,3346.html if it helps at all. pretty cheap really.
If you've got the small bearing 9" you can do it like this: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=358587
Ford 8.8 and big bearing 9" disc brake kit Location: Hartleton,PA Price: $250 This kit is brand new. Comes with all brackets, calipers, rotors, backing plates and pads. Has e-brake set-up. We ended up not using it. I think they retail for $300. Fits the ford 8.8" (explorer) rears and small bearing 9" __________________ http://www.metropolitan-restoration-service.com/
