Here is the pics of my Transmission Adapter Plate. I built this by drawing it on the computer in Acad first, then having it laser cut out, then doin the final tapping of holes and making the collar on my bench at home myself. It mates the Ford T5 to the Pontiac Bellhousing perfectly. The length of the input shaft after poking thru the adapter is exactly that of the Chev trans that was bolted to it to start with. The reason i used the Ford T5 is that I had one for such a good price it was something i figured i would try making the adapter for. I still have to get the small things set up like a pilot bushing and such but those are quite minor, this is the main part that was needed. http://photobucket.com/albums/y42/Kruzer63/Tranny adapter plate/
This is VERY interesting....I'd like to do the same thing for my wife's '67 Tempest. Would you be willing to sell the specs, so I could make my own? And, how does the shifter location match up with the original (i.e., would it work with a bench seat in the full-forward position)? Cheers Tom G.
I googled "Pontiac trans adapter to T5" and it got me here. I couldn't find it from the HAMB "search." I have a 350 Pontiac engine and a Ford T5. You did just what I need to do. Would you send or sell me the ACAD drawing file? Anyhow, how thick is the plate? Is it aluminum? Thanks, nice job. Also, what bellhousing is that? I ditched the 350 auto trans.
