I found this in the loft of my barn. Its a little smaller than a hotwheels. The bottom says Willys G***er "Cigar Box" by Aurora, made in the USA. Anyone know if this was a real car?
Yes...it was made by Aurora. They were the non powered version of their electric HO slot cars. If I'm not mistaken, you could use those bodies on the slot ch***is with slight mods.
Thanks SuddenDeath! Yea it was in a box with some old slot car track. Found a bunch of sixties redlines hotwheels too.
Geeezzzzz My husband hollerd to me and i ran through the house almost knocking over 2 dogs and a cat to get to the computer That's pretty cool though G***er Girl
I have been running across those cigar box toys lately in my ebay searches for plastic HOT RODS. search Aurora cigar box under the toy catagories and you will find several completed listings for the Willys. nothing current. just like real life, the Willys seems to go for more than the other cars.
That old slot car track and redlines...great finds both! About every year, I break out my old Aurora HO track for a bit of boyhood fun. Can't forget the smell of those little pancake motors and Aurora red oil! Unique smell!
Here's a link for ya! http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/forumdisplay.php?f=111 I think that's a desireable color too! Here's a link to a video of an Aurora Tjet I built: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvPe6_avveM I custom wind the old pancake motors!
Ha! That was great! I could not click the mouse fast enough, Barn Find G***er... Good Times that one.
ive got acouple of them and one originall slotcar version they re-released alot of the old slot bodies as pull back cars about 10 years ago the willys was one they re-released
I didnt get any pics of the hotwheels as my boy made off with them and are now in the sandbox somewhere. I dont want any trouble from the HAMB police either since they're from 1969.
You almost gave me a heart attack. I know where there IS a Willy's g***er in a barn and my first thought was, "DAMN, somebody else knows about it". Sigh of relief, the owner is showing signs of weakening (after almost 20 years) and I'm hoping my "first chance if I ever decide to sell" will come true while I'm still able to sit up and take nourisment. Frank
When I was a teen, I bought those dirt cheap at the local Revco. I still have 2 or 3 somewhere. The lt blue one was my fav cuz it reminded me of the SW&C car. I didn't read all of the posts, but I think the cars in that line were all just slot car bodies on a solid ch***is....like the Thunderjet cars??? I think that is right.
yea, plastic slot car bodies on diecast ch***is. very cool. unfotunately i grew up when the ridiculous anti gravity glow in the dark tyco cars and tracks were big. oh well. on another note, i apologize for any soiled undies or panic attacks this thread may have caused.
