^^^ I just got done watching some kafka videos. He was talking about the superiority of his brushes over the mack because you didnt have to turn the brush... kinda made me want to try one.

im having trouble with the pearlescent one shot, am i missing something, is there trick to using these colors?

  3. Pearlescent one shots r very hard to work with in my opinion. Neons, even worse! I heard adding a drop or two of black helps. I usually will just mix pearlescents into a more opaque similar color. I think that the excaliber brushes will b the easier brushes to start off with. Make sure u clean them with non automotive laquer thinner and get some neatsfoot oil (sell this at shoe repair places) to get into all the hairs before u put it away. Might wanna stay clear of motor oil. It has detergents in it that they didnt use to have back in the day. Hope this helps. Oh and get ready to spend a lot of time practicing. It will get less frustrating as u get better. Every striper will tell u there opinion on what is right. Ull find out the hard way what really works. I swear I will never use another ghost leaving stabilo ever again. :)

psst...... the masking tape is for yer finger to glide along, not for the paint edge....:D

  5. Also, I like the kafka brushes for scrolling but I think the excaliber will be easier to do the dagger style with. Just my opinion.

I don't really care for the excaliber brushes. I can turn a better corner with a mack, and they hold more paint. I would like to try out those kafka brushes they look pretty snazzy.

I've been using Mack brushes for a long time , and they're usually pretty consistant in quality . Lately I find myself using the Kelly/Mack more frequently , it takes a little getting used to since they're a little large , but they pull a good line . Also I've been using some of Steve Kafkas' brushes for several years , and they're very user friendly and probably good for a beginner to get the feel of the brush .

Yes, the masking tape is.......the stripe stencil tape is to lay the line in between, then peel off. Masking tape would wick too much underneath and leave fingers of paint..

Pearls are rather thin and don't stand alone well at all.

Try the Jensen Swirly Q liners, I like them the best.

  10. U got it zombie! Neons and pearlescents would be the coolest colors if they werent so transparent. (IMO)
