My old 34 Stakebed was on Hotrod TV years ago with that cute Brunette on that show and also made the Summit calender later that summer.
i never did find out about johnny cash movies showing a red '51 chev, does anybody know anything about 'em?
av8jon -- The F-1 is far from done. The drop and the T5 are still ahead. I will be using the aluminum flywheel plus a 10-inch Long clutch which is a bit heavier than the original and will put back some of the rotating mass.
[ QUOTE ] am I alone in thinking that Barry and "car crazy" are pretty fruity ? [/ QUOTE ] NO...........are you car crazy?? WTF
[ QUOTE ] i never did find out about johnny cash movies showing a red '51 chev, does anybody know anything about 'em? [/ QUOTE ] Any idea when the movie was made? As far as I know, "Five Minutes to Live" was his first movie, and that was somewhere around "'59 or '60 if i remember right. I'll have to dig out my old copy of it and give it another watch and look for it in there. Weird movie, BTW, Johnny plays a coked up thug holding a bank presidents wife hostage in her house, it also has Vic Tayback and Ron Howard in it, so how can you go wrong??
My 1962 Galaxie Country Sedan Wagon was used on the big screen movie JFK, starring Kevin Costner. You can see it on the opening credits and at the beginning of the film. they used it as an ambulance. It made its film debut before i owned it, then i sold it to OGNC, its running around Texas now. chevy powered Ryan
Not famous, but my '41 Buick Sedanet was in a '70's TV movie called the "The Last Convertble" which was shot in Seattle. It was set in the Pre-and WWII time period. The movie revolved around a bunch of college kids, that share a huge '37 Packard Phaeton. The boys go off to war and the relationships change. The studio brought the Packard and a few other pre-war and '41 models. Our Seattle Buick Owners Club, along with some other clubs were asked to bring our cars for audition. Mine was chosen and I signed a release for it to appear. I drove it some scenes, and got to ride through some scenes in other cars with a studio wrangler. As I recall, we were paid about $50/day which was paid (donated) to the club treasury. We were invited to join the cast at the buffets which were great, and the "stars' were friendly and admired the cars.
Got to hang out with Dave Bell and "pick" cars for awards at Frankenmuth....this showed up in Street Rodder later on....not famous...just having fun with my son.
george trosley asked me to pick a winner for his award for the best 'period' looking rod at last years fall hoedown. shh, don't tell anyone the 'judge' was really me... tred.
the voodoohex is in a drive-in resturant documentry that airs on the food network all the time, the taped me shooting flames and the car while doing a deal on Porkeys in St Paul back in '99 or '00- does that make it famous haha
hatch.........I don't thinh Dave Bell captured your true essence or the true immaterial spirit and soul of that raw hot rod character.................plus your much taller in person!
That was a fun day with Dave...We stopped and talked to everybody...Dave knows EVERYBODY....non-stop jokes, storytelling, bullshit, and so on. I finally had to go by myself to get my picks done. Never dreamed he would add my car to the cartoon.
my 70 chevelle was on tv coverage of a super chevy show, I know loser muscle car stuff, I was young. my coupe was pictured in American Rodder back when it was cool. The pic was a Rust in peace.
no, but working on it. here is an easy way to make your car famous.. just get caught with a hooker in it and you'll be in the back of the newspaper!!!!
My old XM Falcon coupe was in a local movie called 'Queen City Rocker' back in the eighties. Got paid $300 to drive around and around the same block for most of the night. A little bit made it into the movie - luckily it was dark and you can't see my mullet
My '66 Coronet is on the Car Craft magazine cover for August 1985. My Dad's '63 Thunderbird was in an opening scene of the old '70s "Police Woman" series with Angie Dickinson. It was seen for about eight seconds. Who says a three-year-old thread can't be revived???
In the movie "Cold Turkey" with Dick Van Dyke, there is a scene with a Locomotive that drives on the street, pulling a schoolbus that doubled as the passenger car. The train was my grandpa's, and he is the "engineer" driving the thing.
We have a 60 Mercury that was in some scenes in the movie Cold Turkey and my brother has the 64 Buick Wildcat that was in those same scenes. I couldn't tell you what my Dad got paid for that back then but he did get something. My brother bought the Wildcat from the old guy that owned it when the movie was made. It had been sitting in a shed and had about an inch of dust on it when we pulled it out.
Cool..I see you're from Iowa, my family is from Des Moines. The story is that grandpa was driving the locomotive back from some parade and a big Limo flagged him down, it was the producers of Cold Turkey...
Thats crazy! i think that is the movie my parents have in storage from my grand fathers estate. he worked for American International Film company. They had all the hot rod, high school movies that showed a little skin back than.
my jeep was used in rick russels offhighway adventure videos, superlift TV, a few of the offroad TV shows.ramsey winch used it for a poster that was at sema .been on SPEED/TLC a few times.
One friend of mine had two of his cars used in the Paul Newman movie "Blaze". Newman had a drive in theater scene in his '59 T bird droptop, while Bob and his wife got to sit in lawn chairs behind him next to their '48 Ford coupe. Another buddy owns a restored '57 Chevy convertible and tows a matching '57 Glastron ski boat. They did a little spot on the combo on "My Classic Car" last year, and the boat was used extensively in the Glastron's 50th anniversary edition brochures and catalogs in 2006.
The movie "Murder in Coweta County" was set in the fifties, I think. Cash starred as Sheriff Lamar Potts...
