Well other than my shirt sliding across the final coat of clear, the '39 came out pretty good. I think it will sand out, if not, I'll be painting the rear fender again....

Here is a sneak peek from flamedabone's ghetto paint booth. More pics tommorow, or the next day...it took 11 beers to get this thing done, and I'm tired as a mo-fo....

very nice :) i did the same thing with my first paint job. i was very careful to not have the air hose hit anywhere moped the floor before i sprayed. and then it happened i didn't tuck my shirt in and found streaks in the clear. but i had enough clear on that i was able to cut and buff.

Man, that looks good! I'm seriously paint/body handicapped. Wish I had the skills. Anything else on the car, I'm in, but body work I don't have the "feel" for.

You may be tired, but stand back and take it in...it was worth it!

  19. I had a garage one time when I first came to Barrie, with a flat roof and no insulation between the joists. I got a ****load of those pink fibergl*** insulation batts that compression fit between the joists so I could get it warm enough in there to work on the coupe I was building during the winter. (I did have an oil furnace in there). Next summer a guy showed up one day with a Camaro that he wanted a custom paint job on. I figured it was good for a fast $500 profit, so I prepped it in the garage, and did all the base-coats with the garage doors open.--This was done in the evenings and weekends so as not to interfere with my real job. On the day I shot the clearcoat, I layed about 6 coats of clear on, with just enough time for a good "flash off" between coats----then when I went to shut the garage door (which I had open and shut about 20 times while doing the colour coats with no problem)--I'll be ****ed if the door didn't catch the corner of one of those pink insulation batts in the ceiling and pull it loose and laid it right across the trunk and rear fender in the fresh clearcoat!!! Needless to say, by the time I fixed that mess, there was very little profit remaining.
