Just wondering if most engines turn in the same clockwise/counter clockwise direction. Same for ******s. If you take the time to adapt a ****** and end up with 4 reverse gears... ... and wouldn't a backwards spinning rearend be running the gears in reverse? ...or am I just high? JOE
We have a TV programme over here called s**** yard challenge,I believe you have the same sort of programme as well. Well in it the teams had to build a dragster, one team went with a light tube ch***is and a M/cycle engine, the other team went more traditional and used a V8 in a conventional ch***is,well the day of the race the V8 powered one lost the forward gears(auto box) so as not to dissapoint any one they took the rear axle out and flipped it over, what do you know forward motion but with only one gear, reverse,it was quick off the line but ran out of gear by 3/4 track and the bike won the best of three. Hope this helps a bit but I didn't really understand the question. john
I think most spin the same way. 'Bout the only time you see one that runs backwards is when it's in a 2 engined boat. -Jeff
I had a little honda once and that engine ran backwards,it was a ***** tying to time it after fitting a new dizzy, took a couple hours to figure it out. john
So If you mount a rear end upside down,Which direction will the car go ,it you are in 'forward " gears???
That's what I mean... If you were to take the ****** from the Honda and put it behind a small block Chevy, it would spin it the wrong way... Right? Is there anywhere that a guy might find a chart of rotational compatability(TM) ... or do you have to just figure it out as you go? JOE
No cos there must be a gear set inside the Honda box that makes the output shaft turn the right way to make the shafts turn correctly. iwould think that as has been said you might be able to take a boat engine and mate it to a standard g/box to get it to run backwards. But for the life of me I can't think why you would wanna do it,unless it is to scare the livin **** outa some-one who don't know what you have done.
[ QUOTE ] So If you mount a rear end upside down,Which direction will the car go ,it you are in 'forward " gears??? Well on the TV programme they just spun the axle put it in reverse and it went forward, whooda guessed it.
Thanks guys... I think. I just didn't know if different companies spun their **** in different directions. You know... like how you can't play your PS2 games in your X-Box. ...and Jeff, I had a 305 out of a Merc boat, about 20 years ago, that spun the wrong way. I always wondered if there was a "stock" ****** out of something else I could have used. JOE
Hey Joe,I think they might make some engines spin backwards for the folks in New Zealand and Aussie to match that of the pull of gravity cuz the water going down their toilets spins opposite of ours. Also a honda motor spins different cuz it sits in a car backwards of all other fwd cars. Most cars have the ****** on the drivers side and the honda has it on the p***enger side.Just my intelligent answer, coming from a guy who works on that **** all day long.
