I just received and E-Mail from Butch Nassau, that he had an accident and crushed his foot. I hope that he heals fast without any problems or much pain. I think that his car is about ready. Joe

I guess you aren't saying he crashed his rail. He may just have to buck-up and drive cross-legged. I've read the story Tommy Ivo tells about that.

Do not know what happened, but get well quick.
You could put an auto in it, then all you would need is the go pedal foot:eek::eek:.

On Saturday morning may 15 I was getting ready to load the car (RED FLAME SIX #235). Going to make its maiden appearence at the Texas Nostalgia Nationals in Grand Praririe.

I knelt down in front of the left rear wheel, and, after assuring myself the car was in neutral I reached in and hit the starter button to warm it it up and dry the fresh header paint.

Some how the car was in gear and it immediately, and i do mean immediately. climbed right over me, rolling me down the driveway under it and then took a big bounce and crushed my left foot.

In fifty years of ths hobby I've never hurt myself beyond a needing a bandaid.

To continue the story the car idled very nicely down the driveway as I lay there knowing I was pretty well hurt. it crossed a residential street, went into and up out of a ditch and hit my neighbor's (A car guy) tree. He came running and the rest to the story is ambulances, waiting rooms and a surgery scheduled for next week.

    I'll keep you informed.

The car was only about 10% damaged...same for the me...but people are harder to fix.

    Thanks for all your support.

Sounds like it could have been even worse. At least your gas pedal foot was spared.:)

You have built one of the most attractive cars of this type. Sure hope the surgery goes well and you can run it soon.

REMEMBER RULE NO 1.. Never start your car without someone in the drivers seat.. Hope all goes well with your surgery. And get well soon.......

  13. I hear your pain, as I damaged my foot a while back, and similarly due to the same stupid reason (although the car was stopped very quickly without damage), hope you get well soon, and look forward to seing some photo's of your car .

    Cheers,

Well, the swelling in my left foot has gone down.

I had the surgery yesterday...Three screws, a stainless steel plate , and,i think, two Ideal Hose clamps.

I was just wondering, if you crash your car in your own driveway shouldn't that replace any need for chassis inspections?

    Oh, I forgot...I wasn't in the car.

    Man, that sounds pretty drastic.

How long before you can run the car?

Hi Butch, I put you and your car on the list of can yours do a burnout. I guess that you don't need to be in it to qualify as a burnout. From your last post it sounds like you are cheerful and doing better. Get well soon. Joe

Butch,, Did they wipe the grease off those hose clamps first, Before the instalation.??? They could have left out all the rest of the stuff, The H/C should have been all that was needed. BWhahaha....
Get well soon, Hope the healing process is fast....Dick M
