got my steering wheel today..reproduction from chevs of the 40s, they will get a phone call tomorrow... quailty or the grip ring is medicore at best but will clean up. gonna take about 2 or 3 hours worth of work smoothing the grip.reallly rough cast. luckily i was gonna paint it anyway so im not as pissed as u would be if i planned on putting it on .. chrome work is A+ though.

well today got a tooon done started off with the gauges.. i hated the color that the chevs of the 40s decals were...reminded me of **** yeahhh i dont wanna be starin at that all day drivin.. soo i had a new sheet of decals made for me at a local print place..

the chevs of the 40s decal is the lighter one i opted for a blackish brown to still give it an old timey feel.. i used the chevs of the 40s one as templates to cut out the new decals.. poked holes in spots so they would line up

how do fat guys and old guys do this ****....???!!

the gauges with decals painted the needles with one shot... man was that a pain in the *** getting them back into their pod thing

    glove box finished up.

mostly ****oned up ..waitin for a few knobs here an there but ya get the general idea now.

Kinda teaches us not to say "a little project". Very impressive work and the look is so smokin. As Denise said, the dash is such a first impression, and this one is red hot! Thanx for sharing the project with us. ~Sololobo~

That's a sweet dash. Love the way your relined the back of the gauges. You'll love driving down the road and seeing the world from that dash!

It's worth the pain, been working under the dash of my off topic project, tons of wiring, duct work ,linkages etc. and smaller inside then a Cessna. I weight around 220 and am 6' 2" so it's a lot of fun, it's worth it in the end though

well now it has gone to the exterior hahaha..

i have to paint the drivers fender from a previous hit and run and my hood was missing the little filler strip.. and i saw a killer 47 chev at the roundup wth the hood peaked and kept the badges i lovvved it. so i had to do it haha

got some coresponding rod that would fit in the gap that the hood ornament and emblem have in them.

    then ya weld...

nuthin pretty about the welds i gobb em on and do some metal sculpting with the grinder

had to fix a ton of cave and pave on the top of the hood.. i dont understand why you would do that here you have full access to the back

    hopefully start plastic work tomorrow

and since the last guy put some extra lights for turn signals on the back of the car i figure i would replace them with some hudson units

That is coming along really nice! The Hudson taillights will give a cool look to the rear, since the stockers are really pretty boring!

I've got an old Hudson dash that I might just practice my very limited paint skills on.
