8ba flatty in my 50 shoe box. Just bought a 6 volt elec. fuel pump. My car is positive ground. When I wire this in, does the positive wire from the fuel pump go to the positive terminal of the battery or the negative terminal?

It doesn't make any difference. Take a wire from the key switch and hook it to the pump, then ground the other one. If it is a pulse pump it will work.

Sometimes have a better description of what you need in the message ***le will get more responses.

Yes to your question as long as you isolate the pump for the body, IE; rubber mount...

If I run a rubber mount, I still need to ground the negative wire from the pump, correct? Or can I just mount the pump straight to the body as a ground. Sorry, i just dont want to make mo0re work for myself later on today and i have to get to Rust Revival like a PIMP!

Ground the pump by mounting to the frame. Then run a hot wire (negative) to the post on the pump. Just the opposite of an negative ground sustem.

just touch the wires to the battery and see what works. Use a charger if you got one as the sparks can blow up a battery in rare incidents.

junk yard kid, that sounds like something Id tell somebody to do, haha. I think id try that but id be afraid of burning the pump with no fuel in it.

Won't hurt it to run for a few seconds dry.

Dont really know why you made a decision to install an electric pump when the manuals work fine. Is the electric one making up for other issues?
Ford, Holley, and Stromberg carburetors were designed to run on a 2 1/2 psi fuel pressure. Anything over that will give you carb problems big time. Blowing gaskets is one symptom.
Be sure your electric pump does not provide more pressure than that.

Im going to the electric because my pump pushrod is worn, im running 2 94s and it will help my vaporlock and typical warmed up flathead tendencies. Above all, my car doesnt like to start with the mech. pump, so this will help. Now if someone can tell me where to get a new pushrod, im listening.

Vaporlock normally is never an issue. Have you checked your fuel pressure off the mechanical pump?
You can add material to the pump end of your pushrod to lengthen it.
Macs antique parts sells pushrods new.
