I'm sorry, but I'm just sick and tired of that dip**** being allowed to write articles. He ****ed at Rod&custom and he ****s at Buckaroo Communications. He seems to be able to ruin what could be some good articles by his lack of knowledge and 1-800-BUY-BILLET at***ude. I know you can say just don't buy the mags, but thats not the point. He's single handedly ruined two of my formerly favorite magazines, American rodder and Rodders Digest. If it weren't for his writing, I might still have respect for these magazines.

I thought his turn at Editor at R & C was their lowest point. But, how much of that was him or the paperpushers telling him the direction they want to go?

  4. i didn't like what he did with R & C too....just my opinion , he seemed to come across as an ***hole

Those mags are just tring to sell copies. They probably think they best way to do that is to write articles that appeal to stuck-up ***, rich old lazy men, with manacured finger nails who pay others to do all the work on there 100 grand "BILLET" rods .Man... do I feel better!!! [IMG]

Oh dear GOD not annother post about how magazines ****!

Don't like it? Don't buy it, or at least send in something that you would like to see in those magazines. I have it on very good athority that "they" are always looking for good stuff to fill the pages. [IMG]

I too have had my problems with Mr Tann and took them to him personally. Didn't feel *****ing about him on a message board that he would never read would get me any satisfaction, period!

Yep, your right guys. I didn't mean to take my ****py morning out on you guys. I sat down for a minute this morning to try to take a much needed break. I was paging through the newest copy of American Rodder when it seemed that every word the Tann wrote peirced my head like a hot poker. Reading wasn't relaxing me at all, so I turned to the HAMB for another diversion. I should not have vented on here like that and I apologize. It won't happen again.

I talked to him back in the 1980's when I had some cars in the mags, not too bad of a guy then.

He fits in better in the street machine / muscle car area of automobiles than the hotrods / customs...... IMHO

Well, I do know him, and up until two weeks ago I worked with him (I left, he's still there as far as I know).

He builds a helluva lot of cars. HE builds them. He has shops and connections supply him with a lot of parts and work, too, but I know for a fact he spends at least three hours each and every night out in his shop.

Every story you read by him on installing or building something is him actually doing it. He doesn't spend much time at other shops. Say what you want about magazine guys scamming parts, 1-800 BUY THIS or whatever else you want to. Just in one month, flip through all of Buckaroo's magazines and count the number of pages he fills. I did 30 pages each of the last four months of Chevy Rumble, and a few stories in other mags too, and it beat the piss out of me. He usually did more.
Now, by way of comparison, pick up a copy of Hot Rod, R&C, etc. and see how many pages those editors are filling--and they all only write for one magazine, not all the magazines in the company. They usually write between 12-18 pages per month.

So, before I climb down off my high horse defending a company, writer and industry I'm no longer affiliated with, tell me--how many of you are holding down a full time job (if full time is considered 60-plus hours a week, plus most weekends in the summer, and several throughout the rest of the year), spending 3 hours a night or more out in your garage working on your cars, and building 2 or three exceptionally good quality cars a year? Every year. For the past dozen years.

Do I like Tann? I don't dislike him. We got along okay. But the man does make most of us (including here on the HAMB) look like a bunch of posers.

Oh, and like the other guy said, if you don't ****ing like what's in magazines, strap a pair on, grab a camera and a keyboard, and show us all what we're missing. Instead of grabbing a keyboard and *****ing yet again.

Well, like I said a couple of posts back, I regret making the post in the first place. I did it in a weak moment and it won't happen again, you can be ***ured of that. I know that I started this, but please let it die.

The interesting thing is.....Apparently some people actually READ car mags..(I look at the pictures)...If you can read, then read the name of the author of the article...then....if you don't like that author...STOP ****IN READING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. I see his by-lines but his work doesnt stick in my head like Ganahal or Baskervilles. Didnt he build a sterile red 33 roadster about 10 years ago? I remember that one because is was so boring and over-hyped.

It all ****s, and it all blows. Just be glad the wind is coming from two directions. Just think, if it were all in the same direction you'd get knocked on your *** and have to start another thread about prevailing winds. It could get ugly if the National Weather Service gets involved. Take a StressTab and find a stray kitten to kick around.

Just read my post and feel I owe CherryBlossom an apology about my comment on the stray kitten. What I should have said was find a stray 200lb. Mountain lion to kick around. That way you could have your throat ripped out and your *** handed to you in one quick swipe. I hear they are actually quite playful, if unprovoked. Bet you can't walk up and slap him in the face 3 times W.O. provoking him. Go Ahead I know you can do it. [IMG] [IMG]

I called my stock broker in Portland and mentioned that I had 10 mil to put into "Martha Stewart Living". Got a good laugh. Who is Jeff Tann anyway? Any relation to Vic Tanny?
Martha Stewart wouldn't make a good Mama Warbucks. I would be afraid of losing even more *** from getting it chewed on all of the time not to mention the constant hard look and sharp tongue.
