More motorcycle than car but they do have the antique car section at Wheels though time museum. Always a great visit.
There's a nice car show in August we've been to, but I suspect you may be going before then. Here's a list of events going on in the area: http://www.thesmokymountainlodge.com/calendar.html You can always go across the mountain to the casino on the reservation!
You could cross the mountain and make a trip to the Sevierville / Pigeon Forge area (a short but beautiful drive!). There you will find Floyd Garrett's Muscle Car Museum in Sevierville, several go-cart slick tracks and a small antique car display in an old building on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge (I think it's called Smoky Mountain Antique Car Museum). On the return trip to Maggie Valley, you could stop at Cooter's Garage in Gatlinburg for a "Dukes of Hazzard" photo-op with the General Lee, Sheriff Roscoe's car and Cooter's tow truck. Most weekends the area is host to some sort of car event (although it can be anything from mini trucks to lowriders). Check with the Chamber of Commerce to see what special events are scheduled. Jim

Last I heard the Wheels through Time bike history place was closed until further notice. That is a shame as it was a great place to spend a few hours. Every bike in there runs and owner starts one up about once an hour.
I believe Wheels through time planned on moving but decided against it http://www.wheelsthroughtime.com/
Well good deal! Glad they are open again. I went the last weekend they were open a few years ago and had a great time. Definitely a must see in Maggie Valley. ALso the fish place across the street has good seafood and cold beer.
Those are good suggestions fellas, thanks! I also found this drag strip that is close to where we are staying-- http://englishmountaindragway.jimdo.com/ I'm hoping to maybe rent a mustang or camaro to race there next friday, just for a few laughs, but the rent-a-car places up there only seem to have mini vans and econo boxes, oh well.
I visited a few years ago. The wheels through time is a must see for any gearhead. Also a drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway is cool. Lots of cool little antique shops and stuff to check out with some misc automobilia ****tered. I went to the biltmore estate but left when I saw the price. I hear it's cool but I was just looking to kill my last day there not spend another week's pay.
Hit Ghost Town in the Sky for some cool western gun slinging shootouts. Especially if you gonna have the family with ya.
Yea, I'm going w/family, ....and inlaws, ....so I'm expecting to be bored ****less much of the time, haha. Anybody know of any hard core old junk yards?
I don't know of any but there could be. I did notice more than your average number of vintage cars in people's yards. At least compaired to NJ and PA. Oh, I got lucky when I was there it was the week of the NSRA Street Rod Nats South in Knocksville, which is only about an hour away.
