Hi All, I'm from central FL. I don't have a rod yet, but I'd like to build a '29 or '29 Model A (probably a sedan). I have been lurking here for a few months[!] trying to learn more about what it would take to build a car. I know this sounds crazy, but I'd eventually have enough skill to fabricate an entire car like these guys have done: <ul type="square"> [*]"anti-billet" radiator shell from scratch [*]hand-built modified T [*]aluminum roadsters [/list] For the time being, I'm just trying to learn everything I can and teach myself to weld. -- ! - the only reason I even set up an account recently was to get to the tech articles. Shortly after doing so, however, I PM'ed a few of you and was told to go ahead and do an intro.
That "T" is the shit. You might want to fix that double-up post though.... (Even though we all KNOW what you mean)
Welcome...........took ya a couple days to think of something snappy to post??.. J.C. built it one piece at a time. Tech is the best. You'll enjoy.
I think this might be the very first Hokey Ass Mission Statement. Welcome... Just my humble opinion, but welding isn't something you should "teach" yourself... while building a car. Otherwise, I wish you all the luck in your endevors. JOE
Michigan Rick [ QUOTE ] Welcome...........took ya a couple days to think of something snappy to post?? [/ QUOTE ] Actually, I'd just rather see what other people are saying. Right now, I don't know enough on the topics here to say anything informative. OTOH, I can learn a lot from you guys if I shut up and pay attention. The only reason I did the intro is that Nads said to do so. Junkyard Dog 32 [ QUOTE ] Just my humble opinion, but welding isn't something you should "teach" yourself... while building a car. [/ QUOTE ] Good point. I should have been more clear. I'm playing with a torch working on 16 gauge sheet metal. I also know someone with a MIG and a TIG who has offered to let me play with his machines. You are definitely correct about not learning on a car....or at least, not on any structural parts, anyway. I'm a long way from trying to weld on a car, though.
