The shoebox doesn't have one....neither will my T. BTW....Will she do anything just get behind the wheel? Cool Sig.
Yep, can't be depending on luck too much anyhow, save that for important shit....... And an extra tube.
When I remember I stick one in the bed of the 48. I have carried one of those little skinny spares off a late model in the 48 on road trips. If you turn right out of my driveway it's 48 miles to the first gas station and tire store a couple of blocks away from that so a spare tends be something that might be useful. In a couple of areas out here in the west it isn't unusual for it to be over 100 miles between any sort of service station or town so spares take on a bit more importance. My running buddy had the better Idea when he had a Model A roadster, my spare fit his car and he made sure that I carried my spare when we went somewhere. Locally, I don't usually carry a spare in my daily driver truck or in the rod. And so far I haven't had to call for someone to bring me a spare or road service.
Depends on the size of the trunk...I carry two spares in my '55 Cadillac (one a wide whitewall and one not)...!!! R-
I have a miniature spare behind the back seat, in the bustle of the Vicky. Also a small floor jack. Two items I hope I never need. I did use the jack last summer in North Conway, N.H. to replace the front brake shoes in the parking lot of the Napa. I was about 1,000 miles from home, about 14 days (3,700 miles) on the road.
yes...hide a donut somewhere...can change one as fast as NASCAR...waiting for help?...every had your cell phone die?...just don't chance it...scary - there's nowwhere in Big D I don't travel....
But not in your Stude I carry a spare. I have never had to use it but my friends have while on the road. The day I take it out and hit the road will be the day I need it for myself. I carry a floor jack and a breaker bar as well as a tool pouch full of stuff.
I keep a spare in all of my vehicles. There's no sense in having to wait for anyone to help when I have room to keep a spare with me. And cell phones don't do much good when you live in the hills.
anybody ever use one of those "use your motor as an air compressor" things where you remove a spark plug and run a hose to your tire? I got one of those at a garage sale in a box of other junk so I tossed it in the trunk.
thanks for the replies guys, im running tube type tires, and when i was at discount tires a while back getting hem mounted, they had to call the old guy from the back cause none of the kids bussing tires had ever seen a tube type, hah. i dont have a spare on my roadster and every time i drive it outta town i wish i did.
