Who builds a mean Y Block?

Hi, I'm looking for information on getting hold of a good rebuilt 292, 312, Y Block to go in a '40 Ford sedan, everyone keeps saying Chevy, but I'm a Ford in a Ford kind of a guy and at present I'm a feeling like a change from a flatty. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Doc Frohmader did a series of articles for Street Rodder in 1999 and for Classic Trucks in 2001 which provide a wealth of information about Y blocks. Also Street Thunder (Street MachineClub.com) , article by Mark Simpson in July/August of 2009 is informative. Have done business with John Mummert and would recommend him highly.

Tim (mctim64) rebuilt the heads and rocker assy's (stainless valves, hardened seats, some port work, etc. etc.) on my 312. They are perfect. Go to youtube.com and search mctim64. You can see the type of engines he builds, or shoot him a PM here on the HAMB. Helluva nice guy, and very knowledgable.

I've never had anything done by Ted, but he's forgotten far more than I'll ever know about Y-blocks. And very willing to lend his knowledge.

I'm a bit late here, but Mummert and Eaton are the best. They know their stuff on the Y, and given the bucks, I'd have either of them tackle one for me. Til i get rich, I'll stay with my Cleveland...

Jerry Christenson in Minnesota. He has I believe a record holding blown 312 1956 T-bird called the "Black Bird".

 

I'm not getting very far with engine re builders at the moment, everyone very busy it seems. Does anyone know of an engine that'd be ready to go??

I heard about a SBC that wasnt very nice, and I believe you could say down right rude. I don't know about Y blocks, I think they are pretty nice.
