I have a 1960 Buick le sabre. All drums and when I brake the car pulls to the left and shakes. It has been doing this so I replaced both front wheel cylinders and lower ball joints and it still does it. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sounds like to me that you have a warped drum that is causing the shaking. The pulling to the left is probably that side is adjusted a little tighter that the right side.

My Coronet does the same thing. The only thing I've been able to think up is that maybe the drum needs to be surfaced and that it's grabbing a bit.

Also check for a bad inner grease seal. One side could be leaking on to the brake shoe causing it to pull to one side.

when you brake while going quite slowly, does the pedal go up and down a bit? If it does your drums are out of round. Are both front brakes adjusted nicely?
Did you get ALL the air out when you bled the new cyls.? Air in one side would make it pull to the side with no air.

All the air was bled out. It did this even before the wheel cylinder change. Everything was fine and then one day it started pulling and shaking when braking

sounds like loose/worn steering stuff. Have a buddy slowly move the steering wheel about 3-4 inches each way while you slide underneath with a light and watch each tie rod end, ball joint/whatever. Bet ya see some sloppiness somewhere.

Worn out outer wheel bearings will do that. If it pulls to the left, check your right wheel bearing. That was what was wrong with a truck I had.The loose wheel bearing allowed the drum on the good side to work. The loose one would not brake.

Chech for warrped drums and or contamination on brake shoes like bearing grease.
