I am working on a 31 roadster for a local guy in my garage just putting in a few patch panels a real 32 cowl vent and a few other sheetmetal items we got the car running last weekend and me and my son drove around th block a few times then i let him drive, the wife told me that was a huge mistake we skipped the whole go cart idea and went right for the hot rods, the main proablem is that i don't have the money or time to build my own ride. Maybe if we start now by the time he is 30 we will have it complete. The steering and wheels need to be change there is still a lot to do this project after the metal work is done i need to get in the garage tonight and fit the hood side.
That's Awesome!!! That's something he'll never forget. I still remember my father letting me steer as I sat on his lap driving down a dirt road on an Indian Reservation.....mind you it was a 1989 Olds and not a '32 Ford but I still remember it hahaha!!!!! At our baby shower a couple weeks ago I was surprised to see that everyone donated some cash to start his first car fund. I was so excited and started thinking about all the cool **** we'll do together.....the stuff you're doing right now.
I'm 42, my dad and I just started our first project together, so you got a hell of a head start on it
I asked the owner first before we went out on drive i rarely drive any of the cars the shop build or the ones i do on the side but i figured this car still needs some paint work etc if i hit something i can fix it. I think the college fund is heading in a new direction now, money better spent at least i can see where it is going
I've been doing the same thing with my nephew for the last year. He's 3 now. When we started he could only turn left and barly honk the horn. Now I sit on the p***enger side and run the pedals while he stands in the driver seat and steers. He love going fo rides in the ****. Yea he's 3 and doesn't have all the right words so Truck becomes ****. And Dump Truck is Dumb ****. Jeff
My son doesn't have a tonka truck or any Hot wheels that haven't been chopped or at least recolored my wife used to work night so he would be in his play pen in the garage with me from the get go. I lost him once when he was around three found him about ten minutes later sitting on a frame rail under a hood of a deuce roadster hands covered in oil the intake was off and he thought it was fun to paint the firewall black.
I started the same way ! ! ! Enjoy every minute with the kids. They grow up way too fast. Have him take a shot of gasoline every day (LOL), it'll make him grow (just kiddin' for all of you people sans a sense of humor) !! Enjoy. VOODOO.
Get him a set of gloves, safety gl***es, hearing protection, etc.. and put him to work. These are from years ago but our son made the set of lowering blocks for my pontiac.
You are all braver than I am. I made my son wait until he was 14 before I let him drive by himself (at least that I know of...) His first full sentence when he was a little dude was "Go Truck!" so I guess he got an early right start.
thats great.......my kids jump around in the roadster im building and love it.. and the roadster your building looks good....keep the pics comming
