Greetings one and all. My nom de plume is Murdoc650; and currently I'm sitting on a '66 Galaxie 500 fastback with a FE 390, and a '66 Bonneville 650 bobber. Both are works in progress. Like most of you, I'm still looking for more junk to fill up the barn/garage/ba*****t; and I've got my sights set on a Model A Sedan. The Jockey Journal was a great help with my bike, and it only made sense to join the HAMB. Here's a couple of videos I made of my buddies cars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X35L45gN4tg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtXKDcRqr-Y The first is a ride in a good friends 1930 Ford pick-up. The second is from our run up to the Jalopy Showdown. The crazy COE twin six was built by our friend Pat, who completed (?) it the night before the show. While I was taking the pictures, two little kids behind me said, "Hey, that looks like the Iron Giant!" I couldn't have given it a better name. The show was awesome, and inspired me to start looking for some early Henery steel. Thanks for your time, and hopefully I'll see down the road. -Murdoc650
That's good welcome aboard! Friday nights might be slower than usual- it's a weekend and it's car show season. Have fun!
Nice job Murdoc. She looks mighty straight. Those 60's pigs have a lot of straight lines and weird angles. It's a ***** to line them all up just right. I know a lot of guys who would say, "Who gives a **** about the lines, drop the engine in and go!" Why isn't it on the road? -Murdoc.
Funny you should ask...She was a pretty clean car to start with. My old lady's uncle had stored her in a barn in VA. for the last 18 years. Mice had eaten the interior, wasps nested inside the headliner, and their was a rattle snake in the trunk; but the hillbilly started her up once a month and rolled her three feet forward and three back just to keep her legs warm. My old lady bought her as a 40-ith birthday present for me. It set her back $700. A year later, the old man died, and now I have to get her back on the road so I can make him proud. He was a old school hot rodder from the deep hills of western VA; and he always smelled like gasoline and moonshine. I guess I'm taking my time with her because I want to do it right, like he would have wanted. -Murdoc.
Awesome. We pulled in behind a '57 Chevy G***er. Full on, straight axle, quarter mile, vintage piece of history. I knew right then and there it was gonna be a great day. Honestly, I have to say it was the best car show I have ever attended. If you have the chance, I recommend making plans for next year. I'm hoping at least one of my heaps will be running in time for the next Showdown. Hats off to Larry and the crew that put the show on. A great event. A great day. -Murdoc
Hey Murdoc, have you noticed that if you're a girl/chick newbie, you'll get a thousand views to your intro post? Funny, huh? It seems that there's a bunch of ***** old guys hanging out here, looking to make friends with the new she-meat. One has to laugh. Don't give up on the site just yet. -Murdoc
thats a really pretty car, i like the lines a lot. I guess i never thought about galaxies much because muscle cars are a little high budget for me, ha. Looks great so far too.
Nothing high budget about her. '60's Galaxies are a dime a dozen. They're the ******* step-child's of the muscle generation. Everyone forgets their NASCAR lineage, and the whole Holmen Moody connection. Most of em were either s****ped or rusted away. Mopar ruled the sixties drags, according to some, and the Blue Oval's impact is lost on most. But Ford beat em all (check out the Thunderbolt!). All the new money middle aged proles seem to forget. Oh I digress, they love the big block Mustangs. But we all know that the 'stangs we're never really drag cars. God love em, but they're just another pretty face in the crowd. I'll take a '71 Torino fastback over a Boss pony anyday. -Murdoc
well thats cool. ill have to pick up a few, lol. And I wouldnt worry about the fact that girls get so much attention on here, Come on its a car site lol. This site has a lot of members. I m sure a lot of them are like 16-25 age range, so theyre gonna pay attention. But youre right, i hope the old grizzled, wise veterans are giving equal attention to all. You develop a good image of them cause you admire them, y'know? leastways i do.
Glad to see another Ford fan out there. And really, you shouldn't talk to yourself so much. People will notice...
