I know who owns the car, he is from morro bay, ca and if i remember correctly it started its life as a 47 chevy fastback
Looks very simalar to Jimmy Z`s(The intERior guy) from California. It had a REAR WINDOW from a boat-tail Riv. American Rodder/October 93, page 43. Also in a Dave Bell caRTOON-DOSENT HAVE PAGE NUMBER OR MAGAZINE ***LE. i HAVE always loved that car. WHAT HAPPENED TO MY SHIFT KEY.
Dang! How can you tell? Theres not not a panel on it that hasn't been reworked. Very tastfully done though. Some cars that modified just look like hell.
Yeah, just saw pics of it sitting at Bear Metal Kustoms in Morrow Bay,and it grabbed my attention. Not diggin the Rivi rear window it used to have, but I love the look and stance now.
cant say i care for the headlights, and grill (not that i could do better) but the door treatment is pure ***. incredible *** end as well. -rick
Wow! That car is incredible! That's amazing metal work as well as a really fine bit of redesign work! Truely an inspiration! Dan Stevens dba, Steelsmith
Wow, I like this car, great work. I like the use of the two smaller rear gl*** pieces better, then the Riv rear gl***.
That is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It is one of those customs that you either love or hate. The version with the Riviera rear lite is a bit hard to take but the re-design is spot on.Thanks for posting the pictures.
WOW....AWESOME METAL WORK! Glad to see Rivee window gone, pipes are a bit much. Great look'n ride. cw.
They do have a bit too much super hero cartoon look to them. I've never been big on the headlights either but being as where the car is getting it's do over I'd almost bet that it comes out world cl*** rather than cartoon cl*** when it's done.
Jimmy Z owns the car. He does interior work and has been building the car for over 15 years. It has been cut apart and back together several times through the years. His shop is right next to mine. We trade interior work for doing ch***is work on his car etc... My guys exchange interior work for their cars for doing body work on Jimmy's.. It started as a coupe... not a fastback.. He still isnt done with it.. I dont think he ever will be. He is very creative and comes up with diff. ideas for it all the time.. The cars is pretty amazing in person. The lines are great. The cowl, hood, doors hood sides have all been custome made out of other cars parts. The rear deck is two rear truck fenders re-worked and the openings filled... Jason..
The car has *****in lines and obviously some incredible metal work. IMHO, the split rear window and undipped door sill are huge improvements. The only changes I would make would be to french the headlights early 50's style (flush w/o frames), ditch the organ pipe exhaust tips and swap out the tailights for more traditional fender mounted lights such as 41 Studes.
