Life has been crazy and the last thing in the list of priorities has been the digger. Even so, I've still been dinking with it. Everytime I tried to fire her it would hit but wouldn't run right. The first time I'm convinced I did have the cam timing off but I've re-degreed it enough to be an expert now. It was still doing the same thing. I gave Chicken a call and he agreed to come over and see if he could see what I was doing wrong. Didn't take him long. I was using a battery charger to power the pertronix in the temp startup distributor. Evidently it does not provide true DC power but pulses. We hooked it up to a battery and it fired right up, and I do mean right up! THANK YOU CHICKEN!!! I switched over to the Vertex this afternoon and have that running nice. You can see in the following video that I need to clean up wiring but right now I'm just glad she's running. The temp hoses are now gone and I'm starting the switch over to the blower and injection.
Kerry that dragster is so bad*** I hope to see it run at mokan in aug my altered wheelbase dart will be there
I call citizens arrest for using municipal signage for firewall. May I suggest some nice spray paint to make it harder to spot the "evidence".
The wife can't understand why I get so exited over vids like that! I know it's temporary, but is the carb on backwards?
Thanks guys! Hech yeah it'll be at the HAMB drags!!! I'm gonna be pulling it with the 59 Plymouth. I thought about putting a hitch on the coupe but it's always such a pain to get all the stuff, including slicks, in the coupe, let alone the extra goodies for the digger. I recently picked up an old oak strap on roof rack. The couupes slicks will get to ride up there. Yeah, the carb is on backwords. Made it easier to run the fuel line to the wagon which fed it with it's electric fuel pump. FWIW, I got the sign at a local salvage place for cutoff price, it's legal. I think it came from a military base. I'm sure you've all seen this but here it is again.
Hey the one in my avatar was pulled with a 58 ford 4 door and a toe bar to the drags. We lost it one Saturday on the way there, it came off (dad forgot to pin it?) and it crossed 4 lanes of traffic only to pull into a church lot and stop perfectly in a parking spot. At whick time my mom reminded the old man, see there its Gods way of telling us we need to go to church!
So cool Kerry, can't wait to see more pictures and videos of it soon. Take care and have fun brother !
