Anyone going to be in Ohio May 22 ? http://www.kikoauctions.com/auction_detail_rept.php?te=r&ir=342bc726cf5b1839b132ff603cc9e569
I am planning on going. Probably going to be a ton of people there. Lots of parts and vintage sprint car stuff.
I didn't go...I wasn't after anything. I heard the prices were high as they generally are at that auction company's sales. They usually start where I'm ready to end
A red haired girl won it. I think she knew Bill Moe pretty well whoever she was. I thought the car went for a very reasonable price, the roadster however went for $27500. I didnt think it would brng that much.
I had met Bill a couple of times. His roadster was cool considering the history he had with the car all those years. I heard the sale was super crowded. Some people I know said they had to stand outside listening to speakers and bidding to bidders ***istants outside. They were kind of upset they had no idea who or what they were bidding against (if anyone ).
I think there was only 3 bidders on the 32, and 6 or 7 on the Roadster ( I went out quick), and yhea it was HOT and crowded in there. That roadster would have been cool just to have the trophies that came with it. There was a bunch of mid 1960's time slips for mid 13's from quaker, 42 and Thompson. Not bad for a blown flathead 30+ years ago. There was also a TON of flathead stuff there, must have been 10 motors and allkinds of parts for them.
The coupe sold for 20 grand. The roadster was cool even though I'm not a roadster guy. The history just made it cool. You just can't build that in for any amount of money. It was the fist time I've ever seen the insides of a Ford 60 up close and the first time my oldest boy ever saw the internals of any flattie. It kind of bums me out to see his or anyone's entire lifetime parted out like that.
I was thinking about that today, I never did hear what they sold those for. They were cool as **** too. They were the real deal. It was too damn crowded for me in there, soon as the hot rods sold I was outta there. That goofy float sold for 300 or something and i don't think it was part of his collection.
I heard the cheapest went for $3500 and the most expensive went for $10k. I can't believe how many people think I bought that coupe. I didn't buy it, honest
To all who knew Bill Moe and were there to witness the auction: Personally I want to thank you who knew Bill for ensuring that his belongings, his "museum" to say was put (mostly) into good hands. As some of you know I did indeed get the coupe... and to those of you who think the price was fair... well, we each have our own opinion. Basically at this point I want to ask any, and all of you if you have any input for me on Bills coupe... I only know what I was lucky enough to learn from Bill in the many years I knew him as family.... sadly I am quickly finding out I have much to learn!! If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks! Megan
Not quite sure who you are.... but yes, I did get the coupe, shes home where she belongs... I think Bill would be proud of the fight I fought
