gas tank straps

    If, and I say that very loosely...if any of you were going to make your own gas tank straps...what would you all use?

    I used 1 inch wide stainless steel that i got from a friend. I just bent it to match the tank and bolted it in. now if it were only that easy, good luck.

    Double the ends where the bolts go thru.

    I have used 26ga steel strips ~1" wide with good success if a lot of bending is not required.
    As stated above, double the edges, then weld on 3/8" studs and it works real well.

    Most of the companies that sell replacement gas tanks also have strap kits. Rock Valley has a universal kit with hardware, stainless strap material.
