I want to pull the trigger on a body, just the shell (29 sedan) it's out west I'm in NewEngland so I need the dimensions H x W x L & weight, to figure out freight cost. Tried the search button but came up empty anyone have this info?
A small booklet I have (Ford Model A Restoration Manual A-1 from Ford Motor Company, 1955) has the measurements for a Tudor Sedan. They are: Height - 50 inches, Length - 93 1/2 inches. It does not give a width, so I measured my '30 Tudor - 54 1/2 inches. These measurements are without door handles or spare tire mount. I don't know the weight of just the body, so I can't help you there. Good luck on your acquisition and your project.
Just the shell easily fits in a Chev pickup box. Width with no running boards in under 4 ft. You can't close the tailgate but it doesn't stick out much past the taillights. We loaded my 28 sedan easily with 3 guys and could have done it with two. Just a guess but I wouldn't think it would go over 300 lbs. Extended cab/shortbox.
Try a search on the HAMB for dimensions. I got a web site from someone here(can't seem to find it now) that has detailed drawings and dimensions of all A bodies.
There is/was a site with the dimensional drawings from the salesman's books... I have it as http://home.cogeco.ca/~deuceguy/Model_A_Scans_Main.htm but it doesn't open. I think the poster is a Hamb person...maybe he will post new address. Some of the drawings are in a number of repro Model A books.
Anyone have a new link to the tech speaks, I have been searching and only thread has a scan that I can' read the dimensions on. Any help would be appreciated, starting to plan the Z and channel and if I can still fit in at 6'2" in a tudor/sedan. Thanks guys. *EDIT* Found this great link, but if anyone has a higher resolution image please post. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=194414&highlight=model+tudor+dimensions
