No load I'd be running 30 in front and about 26 in back.

Check the PSI info on the tires.

    X2............sounds about right.

As for checking the pressure info on sidewall..........really not much help except for max load/pressure limits..........you might have some success doing a google search or with the manufacturer web site and look for 'tire pressure chart'.

Those provide a cross reference for load and appropriate pressure.

The tires are Firestone bias-plys from Coker, they dont have the MAX pressures on the side. Im running 30 in the fronts now and it walks all over the road. At 25 it was a whole lot better but I was afraid that was to low.

Bump up that rear pressure when you put that yard of beauty bark in it, OK?

I always run 30/32 on bias ply, in all 4. With the pickup when I haul a heavy load I pump the rears up to 35.

Both those tires are designed and tested at 32psi. I would not run them under 30psi. Lower air pressure will cause the tire to build up excessive heat and that can lead to a tire failure.

And too much pressure for the load involved can cause carc***/cord damage on impact with curbs stones etc. With bias tires to much pressure for the load will wear out the center of the tread. Then you get to buy new tires.

The 1955 chrysler service manual says 24 psi for 8:20 -15 and this is for the Imperial and New yorkers which are pretty heavy. The 1956 Plymouth manual says 24 psi for 6:70 -15 s.
