Sleepers are all right in my book! Mags and/or anything sticking thru the hood are like tipping your hand in poker though. Same goes for loud exhaust, too. How about a factory color combo continued onto steelies (wide in the back) with the factory poverty caps? I always loved the Black with Dusk Pearl 2 tone on a '55 and if you do the black on the top, and continue it around the window frames it kinda helps lose the 4 door sedan look.

mid 50's ford and chevy sleepers always do it for me.

Black with black rims/poverty caps but with a tough exhaust... Man, doesn't get much meaner.

Ya might want to go back and do an intro post. It will keep you from getting jumped by the HAMB police.

Hey, grumpys toy- Congrats on the retirement, I've still got an eternity to go before I escape. Nice to know that I wasn't the only one that pulled folks over to check out their cars, lol. Although they're not always welcomed here with open arms, a four door's cool with me, I'm working on a '56 Stude fourdoor so the family can ride too. Enjoy this site, I found that if I keep my mouth shut and pay attention, there's alot of knowledge and good folks here.

"Cool" (looking) and "sleeper" are mutually exclusive terms, on purpose!

A sleeper SHOULD look like a "grandpa's car" and look, well, not cool.
That's what makes it a "sleeper".
It's just an incon****uous old sedan, preferably without the "V" for V8 badges car that is a trojan horse of power inside.
If it LOOKS "cool" it looses it's "sleeper" quality.
To really make it work it needs the stock dog dish hubcaps and whatever tires a typical not very with it grandpa would buy at Pep Boys. In other words, these days it would run one size bigger than OEM radials because the not with it grandpa would not be searching out or be bothered with finding WWW bias tires. The local $50 a piece ones would be and look just fine and right. For today.
If you want it to look like a time warp out of 1962, then black wall bias would work, again one or at tops two sizes bigger than stock tires, or it looses the "sleeper" look.

Johnny Gee!! I'll have to get some cars moved to get the 55 out and get some pictures. I'm an old guy who is not very savy on this computer. I have been thinking of taking more pictures of my stuff so this will push me to get it done. I have way to many projects in the works but it does keep me busy and thinking. Thanks Ter409

I found some pictures the wife and I took at Viva a few years ago. I hope this works. You can see the duel 4 barrels in the first picture and the **** carpets and Vega wheel and seats in the second. The wife is in her Poodle skirt and was havng fun with the model. We had some pictures made for my buddie that built the car. We have not been back to viva as we were not ready for the drunken brawl it turned into. Ter409

No worries, my bother inlaw was looking over my shoulder when we seen your reply. He said it would be cool to see the engine. Its cool that you and the wife get out, and she lets you take pics of younger women. Thanks for the reply. Johnny

My favorite is the 55 more-door bone stock with a big block under the hood, although this little gem would do.
