Tri 5 Guys, best suppliers? headlight Eyebrows and other parts for a 56?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tman, May 22, 2010.

  1. Helped dad score a 56 this week and drug it home today. Low mile 2 owner car that haunted the same part of Sodak that Dad grew up in. Since we have not played with a Tri 5 since the 80s I am wondering about the suppliers. This car is pretty darn solid, but the headlight eyebrows were replaced in a repaint in 85 and done poorly.

    So, who makes:

    1. the best Eyeborw repair panels?
    2. Who has the best intoerior kits? this thing is good except for wear on the front seat.
3.What disk brake kit for the front is best (against my advice:confused:). When I was at teh shop CPP was great but I know they just repackage lots of stuff from other suppliers.

Where to go, what to do? Too many varied questions for me to find it all in the archives:eek:

Trent, I am not fan of the CPP stuff - I had trouble with my 56.... That said, I only have 2 parts catalogs - Danchuk and C and P in Kulpsville, PA. I got my brake disc stuff from Fatmans (along with the dropped spindles), and the master cylinder from Master Power Brakes. I was happy with both companies.

One thing I found getting back into my 56 is that there is LOTS of suppliers.

  4. Well, Fatman is out, no respect for them to begin with. Too many issues. Like I said, CPP resells but we had a good deal with them at teh shop, do you know a HMBer made some of "their" kits?

Is Danchuck really OK? Eyebrow stamping specifically.

And Tom, you woill **** when you see how unmolested this car it, PERFECT 56 grill.

I was down to Heidts and Fatmans for my dropped spindles, and Fatmans treated me right. But the CPP customer service (and the few parts I did buy) was in the dumper.

I dont know about the eyebrows - my fenders were perfect - how did I get that lucky???

I'd love to see the car. Maybe at the Counts Run? I go to the ColoRODans the week after and to Purifoy's 50th anniversary bash the week before.

    Sounds like its cool

There is a local Texas guy I buy most of my stuff from, Cl***ic Chevy Connection, he resells a lot of other peoples stuff but knows what is good and knows what not to buy.

Butch M, I like H&H also. I met the other guy at a local swap meet, he bends over backwards to help people so I always try to spend my money with him.

You really had me going with your thread ***le. Having owned two of them, I knew '55 Nomads were the only '55 through '57 Chevrolets with eyebrows over the headlights. I finally figured out by rereading your lead in post that you're referring to the fender section over the headlight door. Guess that will teach me to pay better attention.

90% of the parts in my 56 were supplied by Danchuk.I have spent well over $2000.00 on parts from them and had no problem. Had a very good service. Also H&H were very friendly and professional. Ecklers Cl***ic Chevy and Impala Bobs do supply.
    Good luck

Danchuk is good. I know of a few good ones here in Canada, but no point in you getting from here.

I give another vote for H and H out of Arkansas. They go to quite a few swap meets and if you call them ahead they will bring your order to the swap with them and you can pick it up. We have also used Mervs Cl***ic Chevy of Iowa, a real straight shooter and really knows his stuff. He also delivers to swaps and shows.

whoa.. only reason i posted that site was when you click on the link if you go to the main page there is a **** load of links you can click on for diffrent companys to get parts from ...ya welcome ..

  28. Like I said, thanks. I see where the link is on that page now but I do not need a list of suppliers, we want first hand experience. Many of those companies I dealt with during the many years I ran the front end of the shop, and I do not care to deal with them.
