so i just bought a 59 cadillac, its a four door hardtop, has all body panels and bumpers, va car so needs floors, but what doesnt east of the mississippi. i came across a 60 bonneville convertible and i would like to use the convertible items on this car to make my 59 a vert.it wont be official but custom thats all i care about.
i know the windsheild post will be the same. the door gl*** but thats really it. the 59 electra and cadillac where really the only long wheel base cars with the "big" quater gl*** and longer roof rack. so i guess my question is , what are the differences in teh tub section?? will the rack and section be too short to attach to the rear fender well? i will attch some pictures so you guys have a clue what i am saying, its complicated !@!!

ok so next question, when a chevy has a wheel base of say, 122 inches, adna cadi has a wheel base of 130, what does that mean for the length of quater panle from, jamb to rear fender well? where is teh extra length?

i converted a 59 cad 2dht using a rusty 60 cad conv. it was an easy fit. had to remove the trunk section from between the 1/4 panels/rear window area to fit the inner convert sheet metal in place. what you are doing sounds a little more challenging.
for a reference between cars look a 59 & 60 oldsmobiles the super88 were the same length as the chevys and th 98 was the same length as the caddies. on the 2 doors the length is behind the front seat for more back seat leg room, like you said earlier between the door jam and rear wheel well.

  6. There is a local fellow who made a 59 Caddy 4 door into a vert.
The top seems to fit well and works good.
But, I don't know what top and other parts he used.

Maybe I can get ahold of him and ask.

I'm not much help, although I'm also interested to hear any more info, as I know where there is a '59 Buick convertible I might be able to get and I'd like to know interchange info on it.

i know where there is a buick converible as well, esp a 59, it would be a way easier fit then the 60 bonneville esp if that buick is teh 225. i am looking to get the buick but teh price is way higher.

hey big b, do you have a build topic from the car, or any pictures of it now?i would love to see how it works, did you cut open the quater panel to weld inisde? or did you just use teh entire rocker? i think that the hardest part is where the fin starts to run up, how was it welding that area? how long did it take you to do the swap?
