How much end play should you feel on a rear axle ?? I'm chasing a vibration that I've got around 55-60, and after I put it up on stands and was spinning the wheels by hand I noticed I could get some movement in & out. I'm getting about and 1/8" on p*** side and about a 1/16" on the drivers side. I did have the axles out when I installed it, but everything was layed out as removed, photographed and re-installed in the same manner.

    Axle is a GM 10 bolt 7-5/8 Gov-Loc out of a 98 Blazer.

    Thanks much !!!!

Sounds normal to me, checked the u-joints?

Its going to sound crazy, but I had to repair a drive shaft that had small dent in it for same vibration speeds.

that does sound like normal play. Where are you feeling the vibrations at speed?? (i.e. steering wheel, pedals, ect...)

Sort of feeling it through out the car - definitely feeling like a driveline vibration. It does only occur under power - not feeling it when coasting.

    Thanks much!!

have you checked the pinion bearing? could also be one of the wheel bearings if they are just starting to go bad

I would take it that you have already checked the tires and wheels plus the drums or rotors for being in balance.

You might jack it up by the axle and have a helper run it up in speed to where the vibration starts to try and see if you can detect something that way.

Vibrations can be strange sometimes as they can telegraph and make you think they are coming from somewhere besides the actual cause.

If you feel it under power and when letting off the throttle at speed in gear( Not coasting) its a u-joint!
