Moving from Austin, Texas for a job and want to know what the Denver hot rod scene has in store for me. Any Hambers? Good shows and meets? What about cruise night and/or music venues? I know Pinkee's is just up the road. For now, I'm just trying to figure out where to live that's close to my new gig in the World Trade Center building and may have room for one project to bring with me. My family and I gonna miss Austin. So let's here from the Denver contingent.

Have no idea where the World Trade Center is...otherwise I might have an idea of where you should look for a house. But the hot rod scene is alive and well. Several cruise nites during the summers as well as local rod runs. Most of the larger events are a drive.

Pinkees is about 50 miles from Denver...

Streamline is another place worth checking out. They should be having their annual party in July.

Join the social group as people have posted shows and cruises for the year. Also a good place to stay in contact with Denver folks directly.

Add a welcome from next door...sorta. I'm in Nebraska about 20 miles east of the NE corner of Colorado. Lots to see and do in the whole area. Keep us posted as to the move. You will not be disappointed. So, once again, WELCOME!!

I'm guessing you mean the Denver Tech Center?

Good luck, and welcome to Colorado!

Come on down and see The Lonely Knights in Colorado Springs. Dave Pareso does a great customer appreciation Paint and Primer run in September. The Gunnison show is not to be missed in August...Fivewindow Johnnie puts on the best afterparty in the state up there.

Welcome to Denver! Broadway has a number of cool spots. Depends on what you're looking for. The Skylark Lounge is right around Broadway and Alameda.

There's a few cool local record stores still around. Twist and Shout, Wax Trax , Jerry's Record Exchange. Pretty good selection of music. Black and Read up in Arvada had a really good selection the last time I was up there.
Speaking of music, pick up (or look up online) Westword. You'll find the music listings in there. Again depending on what kind of music you're into, as far as venues go, you might like The Bluebird Theater, the Ogden theater...sometimes the Fillmore..The Oriental Theater has had some cool shows...I keep hearing that it's closed or is closing soon..Not sure though.
Streamline is right around 8th and Kalamath.
Pinkees is up in Windsor Colorado.

Other than that, I'd also recommend the Colorado HAMB group on here.

    Hope that helps.

That's right downtown...in that case, there's a lot of neighborhoods full of older homes east of downtown. Cherry Creek area has $$$ big homes (think estates). Washington Park is hot right now...prices are sky high for homes in that area and it's not that far from downtown. Stapleton Neighborhoods is where the old airport used to be...bunches of newly built homes in that area from condos, duplexes to single family, etc. --decently priced...about six miles or so from downtown. Of course, there's a ton of new condos, etc, in lower downtown Denver...pricey, but close to work.

your going to be downtown, nothing but high-rises and no room for projects. Depending on what you can spend for a place go to NW Denver Highlands (not Highlands ranch), Wheat ridge, Lakewood North of Colfax, Arvada up to about 80th ave. Houses seem to run 14-1600 rent and can get pricey closer to town but all these places are 10 15 min from downtown and have good rental areas. Cheaper less desirable areas south of Colfax Denver or Lakewood. Trucks not finished so I cant tell you about cruzin but Bandameir speedway is only 20 min and Golden has a big cruise first sat of the month.

First off welcome to colorado. I just looked at the amount of projects that you have, and you might want to steer clear of homeowner associations, and covenent controlled areas. There are some areas that will shut your projects down in a heartbeat. But there are some other areas, or homes, with large garages, and neighbors, that will welcome you. A little research will make you a lot happier. I deliver product to your new work place downtown and you are close to the downtown mint, denver district courts, old and new. And the state capital building. Again welcome.

I live in Edgewater and work on 8th and kalamath just south of your work. Actually I am one block from Streamline. It take ten minutes maximum to get to work. If you can afford it live in Highlands. Otherwise Edgewater,Wheat Ridge and Lakewood are pretty nice.

Good Morning I'm a Denverite and Denver has a lot of cool stuff to do for all ages. Check out Streamline Hot Rod Parts at 800 Kalamath St. not to far from where you're working. It's nostalgic, has lots of cool projects to check out and tons of parts! Welcome to the Mile High City! Go Rockies!

  23. I'm about a 5 minute walk away from the world trade center. If you're looking to rent a place and space isn't an issue I would stay around capitol hill, my rent is cheap there and I was lucky enough to score a small garage for my motorcycle. If you're bringing cars and kids and need more room there's a few options off of Santa Fe or I-25 that will get you into work semi-quick. Englewood toward the South, Thornton toward the West, or the Highlands as was earlier mentioned, but it's high dollar around there and not as much space.

Your work is at the central hub of downtown, Broadway and Colfax. Plenty to do around there but hopefully your work offers parking or you better look into bus passes or pedals if you want to make it in on time.

Lots of good bars on Colfax. 3 Kings, the Skylark, High Dive, etc. Plus the Santa Fe art district isn't to far off from where you're working.

I LOVE Austin and considered doing the oppisite of you, but can't seem to stay away from Denver. The roads suck and the weather gets frustrating, but you're like it.

PM me if you're looking for a Denver contact. Good luck
