It's coming up..first weekend of June. I remember last year there was a nice little designated area with traditional rods. I didn't have a car finished at the time..but took a walk around and saw some nice traditional rides. I believe it was right next to one of the vendor buildings. Anyone know if this is happening again this year?

It's been going on for the last few years can't remember what day it is, but with the newer cars being allowed into the show who knows hopefully they'll still have it.....Rich

Jerry.......I think they call it *Traditional Alley* or something like that......it's the *no bling zone!*.......and probably the only place where there will be no billet........they rope off an area on Saturday, I think.......only saw it once......

I don't go to YORK anymore........Street Rods and 1980 cars?? Gaaaccckkkk!

I've only got half a day on Saturday available but maybe I'll try it one last time-since I need some parts, too. If they've got the same # of rods plus Vegas and ******s it'll take me a while, but I'm betting the overall # will be down from just rods in 2009.

This is a HUGE disappointment for me. I grew up going to this show. For me it was one of the most exciting things to happen all summer. My dad and I always dreamed about getting out hot rods finished and going to the show together. We got his RPU to York in 2007. Now my car is done just in time for this year's event and it's not even worth going too. Yeah there's always a lot of Boyd style stuff there, but to open it up to 1980 is just ridiculous. My dad and I are gonna do Macungie instead. Even though York was never a 'traditional' show, they sure killed any tradition it had left. YUCK

Last year I tried to get my T in the "traditional area" and was told I couldnt because I have IFS and SBC. He said it had to be like 40s or 50s type. So I went in and looked around --came out and told the guy in charge I said HEY,I was hotrodding in the 50s and there was no portajohn (fibregl***) cars then and you have them in there and there was no ratrods then and I see one of them in there. He said go in if U want, but your not going to win anything!---I wasn't aware that there was aything to win in the first place.
Besides that I've been told that if U don't have that 23 point sticker UR not eligible for any NSRA awards-I will never have that sticker because my exaust comes out of my lakes headers. This will be my last NSRA event and will not renew membership because of the new rules. Wasn't going this year, but got talked into it

Now this is an enterprising crew, how hard is it to commandeer an area where all the power parkers wont be pissed off and start a little area for traditional rides, like the gr***y area along side the restroom building or over by the swap meet or over by the water hose washup area or by the Repair shop. Just get 4 people to get there a little early Saturday morning, park forming 4 corners and everyone else fills in the area in between. Get a roll of crime scene/caution tape and felt marker up a couple poster board signs to mark it off like its official. How about just p*** the word be there or be square, set up a designated rendezvous point from a JJ Hamb thread and see how many people show up? Start a show within a show. ...Rules..don't need no stinkinn rules....Trophies.. don't need no stinkinn trophies.....And a good time had by all.

I can see it now, Jerry and the Aces & Eights crew get banned from york for saving parking spaces. Cause them guys will get there when the sun comes up.

And next year they'll be an anti-NSRA event at latimore for the real hot rods.:D

It was open to 1969 last year too but with the 100 point rules, most muscle cars can't get in unless heavily modified. So there was only a handful of cars between 1963-69. I didn't like the idea at first but with car counts on a decline it helps to fill empty spots and bring in more money to help support charity.

This gets to be like Catch-22. Car attendance is down. Promoters try to add attendance by expanding the years of cars allowed. Then more cars don't come from the original criteria, like '62 and earlier expanded to 1969. So more '62 and earlier stop going.

Lower attendance, blah, blah soon no show at all. I know we are feeling it at our show, Wheels of Time Macungie.

Sorry to capture some of your thread Jerry.

I only live 30 minutes away and probably won't register my car this year. for $35.00 I can find a lot of other things to do. will probably go to the hotel on thursday to look around and maybe sit in a parking lot on saturday along 30. if the wheather is really nice I may register. probably just go inh as a spectator though. just hate the new rules and their are tons of muscle cars around this area that may be there. would rather go the the york us 30 thing anyway.

Jerry you can get in the fairgrounds Thursday and put up a canopy or save a space to hang out. A friend puts his up every year in the gr*** around the first turn and has never had a problem.

**** is right! Rainbeck has hot rod hill.

You shouldn't need to rope off an area. Just pick an out of the way space. Like near the bathroom back by the old camping area. Or even that corner of the grounds. Sure the road front is full but there is plenty of space to the back side of that.

Another good area is the dirt around the last set of horse stalls. We parked there last year. Most people don't like the dirt.

Problem is York has a lot of traditional style cars. They're just mixed in with the other stuff. Most hang with thier friends

Just pick an area and we all can hang there. Note my suggestions are close to the swapmeet cause we'll all be diggin through it :)
