heres the latest..made the centre crossmember halves up, and sat them in..the way I do it the crossmembers are fitted tight fully into the rails, and welded, then the boxing plates go in and are attached over the top of the crossmember arms..very solid and avoids the centre X relying only on weld strength to tie in. the engine is sitting up a little high still..might come down 10mm yet, depends on steering box clearance (thats next). damn Im sick of holes..but happy with how it is coming together!

    Next installment..

Boxing plates all fitted and Tigged in (thats a lot of tiggin!)

Started building gearbox support, its a dropout piece, so you can pull gearbox back out easily. couldnt help putting more belled holes in it!

Also mounted master cylinder and pedal bracket, waiting on bushes and pivot shaft then I'll fit the pedals.

Doesnt look like it..But 20 hours in this weeks advances..

  18. Great build - I'm enjoying your progress. Funny how all of that frame rail business had to work out but I'm glad things are straight with "no worries" for you now or down the road.

Just a question on your Toyo 5-speed - I'm just about to complete the 32 in my avator w/S10 5-speed gearbox - where does the shifter come up with the Toyota box? It looks pretty far back - just curious as the Toyota has a nice gearset save for 5th gear being .84 vs the 89-92 S10 at around .72.

    Again, great build ...

The Box that I have is the early box, commonly refered to as a Steel Case Box or W50. As you can see in the pic, the shifter is offset towards the rear of the box. I have estimated that it will come out approx 120mm in front of the seat. This may be a bit too close, which will require some surgery to reverse that offset plate towards the front. The plate currently slopes towards the rear, so It's not a simple case of reversing it. The Supra W57, W58 Boxes are different, their Shifter plate is Flat and can be reveresed much simpler.

Lowsquire continues to move along at a good pace.

The gearbox support piece has been tacked together, including the mounting point for the Rear Bones, speaking of which, they finally arrived from the US (after 3 months), thanks again Fred (Gasserdriver). They came across in a container with some imported cars and got held up as part of this Car importing fiasco that is going on over here at present. Lowsquire is now able to commence on setting up the Rear end.

A right angle Speedo cable adaptor has been sourced. It will actually face towards the front of the gearbox, unlike how it is pictured below.

Work is continuing at a steady pace over at Rancho Deluxe.

The Engine positioning has been determined. Ben then set about fabricating the Engine Mounts. They are just over 1 inch high and complete with ol school style rivets. The Steering Box has also also been mocked up.

The engine posititioning was pushed back a little which meant that the Gearbox Support Box had to move back. It was modified to ensure it didn't extend beyond the Crossmember which now gives it a curved look..... more stylish I think.

The Gas tank has been purchased and trial fitted. It fits perfectly in the original mounting holes which is a bonus considering the rear crossmember was moved back a little from the original position.

Now work can begin on the Rear End Set-up
