I need help I am baffled by valve cover baffles.

I ran original Cal Custom valve covers and they did not have baffles in them either. I had this problem and used cheap over the counter type grommets that you can get at any parts store (one with a large hole for the push in breather and one small hole for the pcv. Grommets could have even been the Chevy type. I bought mine out of a bin at a swap meet. You can install the push in chrome breather cap (cheap ones) in one side and a pcv valve in the other (smaller diameter grommet). Not really a big deal but you will have to change out your breather and pcv once in a while. I changed mine once each year at the beginning of the season. If you don't mind a little blow by to clean up you propably would not have to change them quite that often. I know that you can by the cheap chrome breathers from Speedway and could probably order the grommets too. I did have to spot in a small bead of black gasket sealant on the two small tab areas that the grommets did not cover but you could not see that at all. I here what you guys are saying, and Im sure I can rig something but I would rather just hunt down the right **** and make it work. I talked to SUMMITs tech line. They were no help and had no answers, they told me to call Cal Custom on Tuesday, which I will do.

I was thinking about using those, I dont have screw holes so do you think JB Weld would hold em in?

 

I used JB WELD on mine. I just cleaned the valve cover real good with GUNK and sanded the area around where i put 'em. After the JB WELD set up then i put another coat over the top of the baffle. Or you could drill a hole through the valve cover and use a small bolt to bolt them on. The breather would hide the bolt. Which is what i had planned on doing on mine but the battery in my drill was dead and i wanted to get the engine back together that morning.

 

I'd use nuts and bolts W/saftey wire, with the kind of luck I have the JB Weld wouldnt hold.

 

I bought a pair of those repop cal custom vc. They didn't come with a baffle kit but the vc's had the bosses to drill and tap them. I did that and cut out a piece of sheet metal.
