I got tags for my '30 Ford coupe. I checked some things over, threw some gas in it and drove it around the neighborhood. Everything seemed good so I drove to a gas station, put some fuel more fuel in it and drove around some back roads. I pulled back in the garage with 5.6 miles on the odo!!! YES!!! So I've gotta adjust the toe and the play with the carb and timing a little bit but I think she's good to go!! Anyone in North Jersey gonna be at the Chatter Box in Augusta this weekend? (saturday) Keep your eyes open for an ugly primer red '30 coupe with white drag headers. I'll get some pics up soon! And thanks to everyone on the HAMB that has helped me along the way. So here are some pics from a little trip to Dairy Queen today... This was my wife's first ride in it. She thought it was cool so that made me enjoy it even more. It was real blast. The odometer reads 18 miles now. Hope for a few thousand before I park for the winter!!!
congrats, i don't have children, but the maiden voyage on a new build has to feel the same as the day your new baby enters the world. scary, nervous, and way too excited. good job and yes pics.
Thanks guys. Getting it on the road was so gratifying. I started this build almost exactly 10 years ago. Alot has happened in the meantime that distracted me, but I always managed to hang on. Looks like all those freezing cold mornings in the garage over the winter finally paid off. I'm gonna take it for a spin right now!!!
Hey, Cheer up. HAHA Thats Great. Hope to see ya at our meet. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=477131
Man, that's KooL! Congratulations and good on ya for hangin' in there with your project! Diggin' the Poncho for motorvation...
Love your Coupe......... and your wife is happy too ......... you have just WON the BIGGEST and Baddest Award ever ! .....and she is hot too Welcome to Model A HotRod Heaven brother !
Congrats My ride has been off the road for 10 years ("life, work ect") Hope to be back on the road soon and have that first ride again. Have a blast
Very cool! Nothing like the first ride in your hot rod. Even better when it brings a smile to the wife's face. Good luck with it.....and don't put it away for the winter!
I plan to eventually drag race it. Yeah I'll throw some cheaters on it but I have some work to do over the winter. A roll bar and some gears are at the top of the list. Right now I'm running 2.79:1. Kind of a slug outta the hole. Gotta replace those temp spares on the front too. They are working out great to help me get it aligned though cause I don't care if they get torn up. I'm glad everyone digs my coupe. I'm in love with it and I'm finding every excuse I can to drive it!!!
Awesome!! She's beautiful and I'm sure you will enjoy her for many years to come, always hold on to those dreams and the big plus a beautiful wife by your side to enjoy the ride!!
Always keep it drivable as you finish up the details. Nothing more depressing than not being able to go for a spin after a long build time like you had. Congrats on the first drive. Frank
Looks like a fine ride! I see by the grins on the faces that this Hot Rod will get tons of miles on it!! Great job! Leon
