I would like to thank all of our vets in the H.A.M.B. world. Thank you for your service from one vet to another. Have a great weekend.

  2. Back at ya Buddy!!
    20 years, 22 days, 7 hours, 11 seconds. But I wasn't counting

  3. As a retired AF NCO, I feel this is an appropriate time to differentiate between Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. People interchange the two these days, and there is a HUGE difference between the two:

MEMORIAL DAY is the day set aside as the last Monday in May, to memorialize and honor all of the people who died while in the service of defending the United States of America...

VETERAN'S DAY (formerly Armistice Day) was originally to commemorate the last day of World War I, as the Armistice was to go into effect at 11:11 am on November 11, 1918. Later, Congress changed it to Veteran's Day, which is to remember and thank the living veterans of all wars.

    Thanks for your indulgence here.

Not a Viet Nam Vet but during the era 64 to 67 proud I did a little to serve my Country. My older brother was there since passed away. There were 5 brothers in my family we all served. Three Korea, one Viet Nam and myself State side. Plus a lot of relatives.

Thanks to all who have served past and present.

That is correct and they gave all and should not be forgotten this weekend or any day!!! I remember being in the military before 9/11 and people giving you dirty looks, say very negitive things, when I was in and out of uniform. I do not mean in the late 60's and 70's but in the late 80's and 90's, that being said anytime that I can thank a vet it is heart felt and sincere because I have been on the other side. So thank you to all who served and are serving but to the families that have lost a loved one I say "God Bless you and thank you...my prayers are with you"!!!

It amazes me that when someone tries to post something, no matter what it is, someone else has to get on the post and try to show all of us just how brilliant he is compared to the rest of us. The above comment , While true, Just doesn't seem necessary!<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

I'm a Proud U.S.Navy Vietnam Veteran and American. Some of us came back, some didn't those many years ago. Everyday I still think about the ones that didn't make it and the ones that did but had to pay a horrific price. God Bless us All, all military of all time we've been involved in war.

I think you're being a little harsh on patrick66. There is an important distinction here. I, for one, would much rather be remembered on Vets' Day rather than Memorial Day.

In memory of my Grandfather, Tom who served in WWI and my Father, Bill who served in WWII. Two hard working Americans who served proudly. Miss them every day and a little bit more on Memorial Day. Slim

  18. Serving our Country is the Greatest sign of Love a human can give!

I knew what was in store for me and the risks when I joined... I never saw combat but I saw the world and learned to appreciate what great freedoms we had in the United States because of the Fore Fathers who fought so diligently for our freedoms.

I knew that this experience would remain with me the rest of my life!

Thanks to my Uncles... Grandfather and friends who have served so Faithfully!

As a retired Air Force officer, this weekend is the special time set aside to consider our honored dead, who didn't get the chance to retire. A few of them were my friends.

By the same token, every day is a good day to appreciate those who defend us now, and those who have in the past.

A young Man from my town gave the ultimate sacrifice . Spc.Jared Douglas "Jed" Hartley KIA July 15 05 . I watched him grow up . He and His Dad helped work on my Dads farm from to time to time. He was a good man. Went back on his 2nd tour in Iraq road side bomb got him. He volunteered to return to that area because he felt that their presence was helping the locals. May he and all the fallen Soldiers rest in peace .

a special day to stand proud and say thanks to all those who served and a special moment in silence as taps is played in our mind to say goodbye and thank you for the ultimate sacrfice. i hope you vets esp will remember in November 2012 the president who refused to wear a flag lapel pin and who would like to change our national anthem because the Star Spangled Banner is too bellicose! may it forever be our anthem and may it fly forever over the land of the free and the home of the brave!!!

Here we go again. No, it's not alright to recognize living veterans on Memorial Day. Holiday's have meanings, just like words. This weekend is a time to remember those fallen men and women, those that paid the ultimate price while serving their country. Not in their retirement, not living veterans, dead ones. Mt high school class web site always has a get bit of information as well as some good likks for those so inclined to investigate, www.cchs1972.com

  27. Ok! for all my fellow vets you need to check this video out, be forewarned you might need some Kleenex. I would say "Enjoy!" but to any vet that has been present at a military funeral this can be a powerful and emotional performance.

Use your search engine for ILSILENZIOA.RIEU.wmw

George Jackson Class of '67 this one is for you.

  28. I appreciate the details, and these were interesting.

  29. Sorry you took offense here. Obviously, YOU do not know the difference between the days. A lot of people do not know that there is INDEED a difference! They are two distinct and different days. Too many people see both as just another Federal holiday. If you think my point there was to be "brilliant", then obviously you missed my point and are one of those that gets offended by the least little thing.

I've lost both ancestors and current family in wars dating back to the Revolution, as has many Americans. Memorial Day remembers the fallen. Veteran's Day remembers the living veteran. If pointing that out to you offends you, then there is nothing I can do for you.

    Happy Memorial Day to you.

Not to stir shit but who ever has a happy Memorial Day? I asked myself this earlier when I had the same told to me at Class 6. I will be hoisting a few in the memory of Cpt Kyle Comfort http://kylecomfortmemorial.com/ I had the distinct pleasure of serving with him 2007-08 OIF and a few other friends I've lost over the years.

I sure as hell won't be happy
