Who sells a good set of number stamps?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by jrblack30, Apr 26, 2010.

  1. Looking for a set of number stamps like the ones Ford used. I have quite a few sets of number and letter stamps, but none match what the Ford ones look like, Who sells em, Are they available?

Please spare me the lectures of stamping numbers, They are not for my frame, working on some trinkets to sell.

    Any help would be appreciated.

There is a guy of the Ford Barn V8 site that sells them. He runs a ad every week or two.

    Go here

    http://fordbarn.com/v8swap/

He also advertises in Hemming sometimes. :)

  3. Anyone else?

Been to his website, I would not say he is even affordable 140 for 10 stamps and a star, his numbers from what I can see are not even close to Ford numbers.

I got my star from McMaster Carr, the numbers and letters from Harbor Freight.

Not to bring this back from the dead or anything

Back in 06 I was looking to get some stamps made. I did the whole looking around to find numbers that match in those catalogs and couldn't find anything. Buddy tipped me off on that restostamps site.
From what I remember him telling me those are just standard kits and he also sells custom kits. They were not listed on his site I had to ask about it.

I had him make me some stamps to match what we had on our frame, turned out real good!

As a side note to those who have never stamped a frame/body. There are a lot of uneducated inspectors that can be fooled by just about any style stamp but if you get a seasoned vet that's going to give you the OK to register your car you had better be REAL close to the origional. Some of them DO know the difference and can be real *****s if you try and "p*** one off" on them.

I'd say that if an inspector knew enough, and cared enough, to spot a fake stamping you were trying to p*** off, then he/she is doing their JOB and the stamper's the ***** for trying to cir***vent the law.
