  2. LOL I remember being in 3rd grade and checking out hotrod mag from the library at school and tracing and drawing cars from it.. My principle encouraged it from me and my troubled friend she would put our pictures in with the news letters for parents and send them off to comps.. All the while I was suppose to be doing my studies lol.

My three year old told us the other day that she will build her own "loud car" in the garage, but it's going to be pink. Awsome!

I've "Stuck my claim" to the '50 Shoebox sitting in our garage. Legally, it belongs to my dad, but we call it mine.

I've been planning out what we're going to do over summer break, and it'll be my first project. A good introduction to "The Scene."

I'm the middle child (16), and the only one to catch the "Sickness." Hopefully, in the future, my kids will contract it too.

My son who is 2 1/2 now always wants to be in the garage with dad.!I was in the garage one afternoon and my wifeleft the front door unlocked and he came running around the house looking for me and hollering daddy Hotrod so when he gets to the garage the wife comes out to make sure he was ok and tells him he needs to be in the house while dad is working on the car! He turns to her and points and says with a stern voice No mommy Daddy Hotrod so now she knows if its nothing too serious and he won't be in the way he can stay with dad in the garage. Now he opens my tool box and grabs wrenches and acts like he is working on it too.I love it! I can only hope he doesn't end up in the trouble i did at 16 for drag racing cars on the streets.

My little dude (8) has laid claim to the '66 Olds. It's on the back burner right now but he still goes in the shop and cleans the chrome and sits in it & makes engine noises. He's starting to show symptoms of my steering wheel affliction, too. I'm gonna show him how to change out 'flake wheels to keep him interested.

Its bad enough that my son has claimed an engine, trans, cooling fans, ect. ect. The best one was when I went to drive my 56, it had no lights. He toke the head lights out for his car! I think he got enough for now,so he's going to have to wait along time before he can get the whole thing.

My son told me that when I die he expected to get my 39 Chevy sedan streetrod. He was 32 at the time. He never helped me on any of it. my wife on the other hand, put up with countless hours of my being in the garage, would bring me food, and cokes to the garage and never griped the whole 3 years I took to build it. I pissed my son off, when I told him if I died it went to my wife, not him. Mute point now, I sold it 10 years ago.

  10. I'm in my late 20's and my brothers are in their early 40's. We've all informed our father about which cars/parts he can/cannot sell so that we can inherit them when the time comes. If you've grown up in the "lifestyle" I don't think you ever outgrow the "one day it's gonna be mine" thoughts about your father's car stuff.

My 21 year old has laid claim to my 55 Chevy since he was 9. My 6 year old tells everyone my 47 Ford is his, and will tell me " Hey dad, my car needs a bath." My 11 year old daughter says that mommy's 56 Thunderbird is hers when we are gone.

  14. Well, I'm not going to claim to be a "young" gearhead, (ok- younger than some) but I am keeping an eye on an old 66 Barracuda drag car that is owned by an older friend - Of course, actually having some extra cash might help the claim staking ability, but dreaming is still free right?

I claimed my dads 65 nova, he bought it about a month before i was born and has been a nonstop project. I remember when i was about 6 or 7 i asked if i could have it and he said when i was sixteen and could drive i could have it. Im sixteen now and have been reminding him that he said i could have it for the past few years, he just says i dont remember saying that. I finally got to drive it a few weeks ago before he went on cruise.
