Yep-made it to the local show and shine Friday night-white knuckled the whole way. Still a long way to go but man it's fun to take out a new ride and stir the **** once and awhile!
So cool you noticed that! No headlights at all! So we cut the drinken short and booked back to the manhole before dark. No cops at all!! No floor, rear brakes only, no alternator, loose fan belt, no brake lights-man what a ride!!!!!!!!
Great feeling, on the road for the first time. Safety is not to be taken lightly. I'm sure you would be pissed if you hit something because you couldn't stop, or someone rear ended you, because you have no brake lights. Wouldn't want you to wreck your car..or worse injuring or killing some innocent bystander, or yourself. Not trying to rain on your parade, but I don't want you to end up as another statistic (not to mention, it reflects badly on the Hot Rod community). Make it safe, then drive the Hell out of it.
i know what you mean. my first "road test" in my 52 was sitting on a 5 gallon bucket with a chunk of wiring harnes ran through the fire wall as a "gas pedal". power braking with a piece of wire is a wierd feeling! nice car, hope to see more of it as you get it finished up.
Nothing beats the first white knuckle ride after a build,so what do you have in mind now that you have it rolling?
Congrats! Tuff little car. Love the first nail biting ride, kinda like being a test pilot . Wheel and tire combo is great. Have fun with it, John
Nice to know that in this day and age one can still get away with driving something not quite yet legal. Cool coupe!
Hey man an extremely well deserved THANK YOU going out to my bad *** brother BUGZ for all the last minute help/work/ideas he gave unselfishly. This dude has kept me on the road to righteousness and is one hell of a fearless but wise beyond his years co-pilot. And the top is a good material but lacks the finish trim/pieces. They'll come in time. Thanks for the cookies guys!!
And as for YOU 40fordpu-your 100% correct! The show was 8 blocks from my garage and the speed limit is 25mph. That's the only reason we did it! The show is a 2-part deal. Show and shine Fri night and Cruise the next day at noon that takes place in the heart of Waterloo. I am on the committee now, so I had to stage cars all morning and then I was on water/kitty litter patrol from then on til 4pm. So taking the car any further than my neighborhood was never an option. What an incredible weekend so far!!!!!!!!
