I envy you buying that much steel for that price. Around here that would have been close to $4-500.

That 4 inch round on the front sounds rather big compared to what most guys run. I've got a piece of 2-1/2 going on the front of my speedster and it looks huge

Prices sure have gone up since I built my T frame. I think I paid about 1.25 a foot for 1-1/2x3 then.

One hint that I learned by mistake. Measure and lay out all of your cuts before you cut to minimize waste when you cut. I ended up going back to buy a few more feet of tubing because I didn't and ended up with too many left over short pieces.

the front tube is the front crossmember too mount the spring perch on, it is 4"od so it will match the frame rails perfectly. car will have a spring behind suicide front end, no frame horns. i am thinking by you asking about the 4" is because you have a 2.5 inch pipe between your frame horns in front? most of the scratch built frame threads on here that i have read are saying 4" schedule 40 pipe for the front crossmember. i may be wrong, if so, it will be overkill, but overkill is better than underkill. ill add a few pics. it was complete original, was running and driving about 5 years ago, but i finally got him talking into making a rod out of it, like the one he had in 1959. in 59 he had a 29 roadster, chopped 5 inches, channelled 4, flathead, it was a super cool lil rod. so it only took me since 1984 when i was 15 too finally talk him into it. he will be 70 in october, hopefully by next summer ill have it done for him, as i work 55 to 70 hours a week. dont leave much time. tryed too get the pics in order from when dad started strippin it before he pulled the banger, to where it is now on the body cart i made for it too be mobile. the cart i built is at the ride height i want it too be at. 15 inches at the bottom of the body in the rear, 12 inches at the bottom edge of the cowl in front. this puts the top of the rear wheel opening at 28.5 inches.

Lots of people use 2.5 with a suicide perch because they taper the tubing so it looks like a stock frame.

When you start welding make sure you clamp everything well to avoid warp-age.

    Have fun!!!
