We are thinking about driving a couple of hot rods from Tucson to the Roadster show this year. I have been to the show many times but have never driven a Hot Rod there. Sunday is usually dead and we often come home early that day. Since we will be driving a car with no A/C, I am trying to plan the best time (Coolest) to make the trip back to Tucson. Who will have a car in the Traditional section on Sunday and is it worth staying for?

like you said, sunday is pretty dead....the swap meet is about half of what it is on saturday and a lot less cars on display.
Last year is the first time that I can remember (and I've been going since it was at the Hollywood Bowl) that I didn't go back on sunday................there was just no point

    Two things:

You are making a real effort to come, so why not stay?

If you do leave saturday, leave in the evening, when the deserts cool down and go back to AZ

I would come in on Friday and go to the open house at the So-Cal Speed shop which starts late in the day, then go to the LA Roadster show on Saturday. If you have the time don't forget to check out the NHRA Museum while your there. Your going to be tired at the end of the day (and out of money). I would stay the night go back to the show on Sunday for a few hours and then get an early start home.

I'll be there! I've only missed one in the last twenty two years or so! Probably won't have the Plymouth with me this year though... Hell I wouldn't miss Sunday, never have. Always seem to pick up the best deals of the meet on the last day.

  5. Will be there in the swap area with a space with parts for sale. The last time I drove my car over there I left during the night since is so hot across the desert and came home at night on sunday and took monday off. When I say hot I mean 107-110 on the way home.

Sunday may only be half of what Saturday was but, it's still ten times better than most other events. I don't leave until I have to.

Bob Barnes asked me to promote the Sunday Traditional Parking, last year. He said there would be more space this year. last year I got about 60 cars in that little spot by the booths. Saturday there was '33 and '34 Fords in there, then Sunday they let me park as many Traditional style cars in there as I could. All who parked there got a special dash plaque, for just Sunday.
I'll be there both days again. Saturday with "CAMP HAMB",then Sunday with the Traditional parking....

Thanks Bob. Maybe I could start a thread on how to sand shiny to flat ;)

Maybe I'll find you this year.

I found your car last year but you were off wandering around- probably up to no good. ;)

Along with 700/800 other shiny roadsters :D :D

The LA Roadster show is the BEST event I have ever had a car in !!
The above photo was taken by Don Dillard in 2007 ... the last time I was in LA with the roadster :)

Deuce Daddy Don will be there ( inside ) with his 1932 Ford roadster that he has owned since 1962. Don is also a Past President of the LA Roadsters ...

A slow LARS Sunday is alot better than most of the other Saturday events anywhere else.

I've been going every year since the 60's.

I think you mis-understood me Bob. I am saying just exactly that, in my extremely verbose and overly excessive way.:)

I've left on saterday evening before .That just doesn't work... It's hard to take it all in in a day and a half. Stay through sunday, There is still plenty to see. But I'm easily impressed...

I agree. I think we will stay through Sunday and leave very early Monday to beat the heat. What else is there to do on Friday, besides the So Cal open house?
