I don't think you want the seatbelt mounts stronger than the seat mounts...if the seat comes loose and the belt doesn't you're gonna get cut in half...
Probably eat it either way, but think of the extra messfor someone to have to clean up? [IMG]

I'm pretty sure i'm gonna get cut in half by the lap belt if I wreck, but i'll probably eat the steering wheel first. A four-point would be sweet though...

I had a 79 Malibu with a bench seat, I had to panic stop once, the front seat kept moving forward. Damn shoulder belt almost choked me..

Now that we have cheap camera survalence systems and drive by wire, they need to turn the seats around, and we'll watch what we're getting ready to hit on a camera. I think it's about the safest system, because you'll have the full seat to support you in a collision.

  5. Head rests became mandatory in 68. Plus much emission control.

Emission control in this case does not refer to prophylactics.

    This is Wisconsin, but...
My guess is, that's when ALL the states jumped when the FED said to jump.

At least it's when the cut-off is for not having other stuff, I won't mention... I wouldn't want to oFender. No that wouldn't be gHood.

In mich I understand that if the car is original, no problem without belts, but if you have modified the car, they figure you are handy enough to install belts and will be ticketed if you don't have em....makes sense to me...sorta....I hate victimless crime.

My question is why don't they put seat belts in your kids school bus or in Greyhounds and public transportation.

    [/ QUOTE ]
They are required in some places, but the kids also use the buckles as weapons. If the driver has to pull over every time a kid uses one that way the bus would never move. If the kids doing it get kicked off the bus, the driver gets in trouble from the parents presuring the school administration. "Little Johny would never do that - the driver has it in for my kid" Yea - Right. Kids need to get their ***es tanned and then seat belts might work.

I think 296v8 is close.... technically 1967, but the model year of 1968.....The 68 Dodge Charger, and others had side marker lights and I believe by then seatbelts were a required feature and no longer an option, however pick-ups were not untill like 1974 with seatbelts and smog control......From what I understand, its an argument but if the factory did not include them (seatbelts or smog control) then you do not have to retrofit........of course it depends on the state, judge and cop......

Now, I'm just a kid, and I can admit that I don't know **** from apple-****er, but I'm pretty sure that seat belts were made "standard" on the 1948 Tuckers.

Please don't punish me too bad, fellas.

As for the federal law on seatbelts... probably in 60's... hell if I know/care...
