Ditto chevybombs.com Definitely has to be a lowrider to pull the look off with the skirts. On a stocker or hot rod, nope.
A couple of the local lowrider brigade have them on their AD trucks. Ok if you are going for the whole "Bomb" look but not my thing. If you have the ugly visor and lots and lots of chrome trim and wires or flipper hubcaps with wide whites the skirts work. Exactly like the one Ded Pan posted. That has to be the poster truck for correctly done Chebbie Bomb trucks.
Yea, I think I talked to this guy before. Very reasonable on prices and he can be found at Poormona swap and Long Beach swap meets.
Definitely a lowrider kinda thing. I like em on the right truck. They look terrible on the wrong one. There is a guy on ebay that has them sometimes too. Could be the same dude but they're the one's specifically for the chevy trucks with that body line.
Yea, so did I. Please see bio. I guess I like bombs as a condition of my being half Mexican and growing up with my grand parents in a bario. But, I guess that guy wouldn't know anything about that? I guess he is content to trash someone eles' car inspite if the fact that there is a strong link to culturalism placed upon these bombs. Maybe he finds this one ugly too?
Very nice.....I have about 8 local low rider plaque molds and one of them is "Sophisticated Ladies of Fresno".
Sounds cool. I wanted to start a girls c.c. out here, but, I am too lazy to put forth the effort. Self proclaimed slacker!!
Chevyv8t, that's a good looking truck you have but it looks like it is running in two directions right now. If you plan to go with skirts it needs the white wall tires to go along with that and with the visor I think it needs the white walls anyhow to carry that off. First I'd worry about getting the rear wheels centered in the wheel wells before I worried about skirts though. It looks like who ever put the open drive rear end under it didn't drill the hole for the spring bolt the (I'm thinking 1-3/4 inches) forward of the regular hole in the spring perch to center the axle. I like the truck and it's almost the same red that I painted mine in 1982 but looks a lot better than mine did.
Mr.48 is right. To pull off skirts you need whitewalls. Here's a couple of pics of a truck I came across while working down the street. Hey Michelle, don't worry about the haters. Some people just don't get it.
I think yes they really did rear fender skirts for 51 chevy 3100 trucks. I will post mine they are available to post.
If you will be ok using gl*** skirts I suggest http://www.bigjims.net/ I got my skirts for my 58 from them and they are good quality.
The only problem I've got with the lowrider Chevy pickup is the color- aside from that, I think it looks cool. Your truck? Hell, I think it looks pretty good as is! But yeah, you are kind of walking a tightrope running skirts on a truck! But if it's what you want I'll be the last guy to try and stop you!
