I have a question 30 Ford Model A sedan with a 32 Grill what hood would work. I need the space for a BBF 428 FE engine. So the 32 radiator will allow for a pusher fan behind the stainless grill. Plus how much room is there from firewall to radiator on a stock 30 Model A?

The Model A Hood works fine with the 32 shell. 32 Shell can easily be modified at the bottom of the sides to shorten it if necessary for your application.
You'll be pushing the firewall back for that big block. If you're not using the original gas tank, you can reverse the firewall and get the depth you should need.

In the stock style installation your not going to get a pusher fan between the insert and the radiator. 10lbs in a 5 lb box!

Well supposedly a 428 FE engine is 32" long and the area between the firewall and radiator is around 28-30". (I don't know for sure) How do I modify the radiator shell for a fan or just lengthen the frame? It would just be easy to use a repo 32 frame. But stretching it would be interesting to learn. Plus can I use a stock 32 frame for a 30 Model A or do I need to use a modified frame for the Model A?

You could Z the frame at the firewall and use the front of another frame to get the extra inches, but may need a couple of pie cuts to line it up, this will also lower the front so you would want to check scrub lines etc. From what I have seen you wouldnt want to go beyond 4" stretch though as it starts to change the proportions of the car. You would also need a new hood too. Reversing the firewall as stated above gives you about 4" but you lose that in the cab. A thin thermo fan BEHIND the radiator will also save you some space and wont been seen with the hood on.

I'm planning to use an FE in my 31 A roadster with a Deuce shell & hood top only. I'm going to strech the frame just in front of the firewall about 3"

I've got 5 hoods and an extra top to cut & lengthen one of the extra hood tops. I also want to use a stock FE fan so I'll need the extra room. In my opinion electric fans just don't look right in a Model A.

youll need to pinch the rails at the firewall and at the wheel tubs if your running hiboy style, same just little more on 28 29 model a. 30 31 not as much pinch.

  9. You can pick up about four inches of additional wheel base and engine bay length with the 32 frame if you push the front cross member forward an inch.

Mounting a Model A body on a 32 frame takes some work. It is not a bolt on deal. But well worth the effort.

I had Gary Maxwell at Blackboard Hotrods build my frame. He got everything spot on.
