  15. Damnit! I though I was the only one into flower cars. Get away you mongrels!

I grew up in New York just a block from Ferncliff cemetary. This was a fashionable burial ground and I got to see the funeral processions of Judy Garland, Malcolm X, politicians, probably some mobsters, and other notables They had the finest array of flower cars and hearses, especially Cadillacs.

That one looks like a cut off hearse. The flower cars I saw had rounded cab roofs like a pickup truck. They sat with a tail-up rake when unloaded (some of those flower arrangements were enormous) and had elegant chrome or stainless rails around the bed. Plus they were always immaculate.

They really looked so...so...something, cool isn't the right word, leading a procession. Some of these funeral processions were hundreds of cars long.
Left a lasting impression on me.

There was an old man about ten years ago when I lived out in Denver that drove a flower car just like that one aroubd Englewood. I saw it one day I was leaving Oldies but Goodies car lot on Broadway......I about shit myself.... [IMG]

  19. Looks like a '40 Plymouth.

I guess that might be a real flower car. Hard to tell in this shot. A hearse would have 4 doors. Would like to see more. What do they want for it?
I still have my tuxedo. This could work out well.

For the most part classical gas I feel is hella expensive... the want 3 grand for a rusted out badly chopped 50 ford with no engine/tranny. Check out their lot up in alt for some more cool cars but I don't think i would ever buy anything from them. If im not mistaken when i talked to the guy at classical gas the merc was a coupe chopped into a pickup... he had two so I may be wrong though.

Oh, I way dig the flower car.
So what's so ugly about the the white truck?
If I lived near that place I'd be there at least once a week just to "window shop".

I once read an article that Caddilac built a handfull of p/u's around the late forties, that look like one. I thought flower cars were converted four doors that you could still kinda see the back doors?

Some love it, most hate it!

It has a ton of VERY thick bondo all over it. Most of it is cracking and/or falling off.

I wonder if you went down there with some cash in hand if you couldnt get that 60 buick for cheaper. if they never sell a car they cant stay in business, and you know they didnt pay $8000.00 for it.

I'm sure they buy that stuff off of farmer's fields, old garages, etc. for pennies on the dollar, however, they've been in "business" for about twenty years that I know of, so they must be moving stuff...or the owner is independently wealthy and doesn't have to sell any of it!!!

I doubt you'd budge them off that Buick price much with a brown paper bag full of cash...but you're certainly welcome to try...use their website and send them an offer!

  29. If you guys are ever looking for a Caddy (or any) Flower Car, Look into limousine publications. They aren't that bad for price, 'cuz not too many funeral services require a '57 Caddy flower car... and funeral cars are usually very low miles, and highly maintained..
