Hot Rods Saying goodbye to an old friend! Santa Maria Roadtrip

This weekend I finally sold my little model T hotrod to a fellow Hamber from norcal MaxwedgeHeminut. It was a 3 day weekend so I told him I would meet him at santa maria, that way it would save him about 6 hours of driving and I could take one last cruise in the T. This was my first time building a hotrod from the ground up. It took about 3 years, and I made a few mistakes and learned a ton, thanks to the HAMB. Next hotrod, I would like to build a 28-29 40's style roadster.

It was perfect Socal weather on saturday. I think it was about 85 degrees. My uncle Ray decided to come along with me for the ride and we left LA at about 7 am. We decided to take PCH all the way along the coast. I had been wanting to do that drive in the hotrod, and now that I was selling it I finally did!

Here's in Pacific palisades/topanga area, I believe this motel has been there since at least the 40's. I think it was designated a landmark too?:

What a nice drive! People are always asking what to do when they visit California, well. Here you go!


Me and My uncle. He's 16 years older than me, and one of the main reasons im into old cars. He had a 64 impala, a 56 chevy truck, 67 cougar when I was a kid.

When we got into santa maria, I saw how crowded the show was with lots of 1% clubs and 4x4 and gangstas. They were still charging $60 to go in, and I didnt want to leave the car way in the back of the $5 parking, and come back and find stuff missing.
We decided not to go into the show after all. It was all about the journey getting there.

Next hot rod will be even better!!!!!!!

That was a really bitchin' goodbye ride. I am taking mental note.... If I ever sell one of my cars (which would never happen) I gotta say goodbye, by driving up 1 from Santa Monica to Santa Maria or visa versa. Nice picture thread!

I love this Car..Still trippin on the fact that someone siphoned gas out of the tank in the Radisson Hotel Parking lot...I guess they needed more than I did..lol.Great meeting you and your Uncle as well.We had a great weekend in Santa Maria.

Installed two new rebuilt 94's with linkage..Running Great!

 

When I saw this little roadster for sale I couldn't imagine why anyone would want to part with it. After reading (and seeing) the last trip you took I'm even more baffled. To each his own and after over 200 cars in my lifetime I do understand the feeling "it's time to move on".
Congrats to the new owner and to the old owner, be sure to share the next build adventure with us.
