  5. This story ****s and the ***el is misleading.
As a proud Dutchie a was happy to have another great custom in Holland.
I even work in the Rotterdam harbour and missed the chance to look at this
    great car.
Now it's in Denmark, i hate that, you Danish are lucky i have two cars that
came from Denmark (my 39 Mercury coupe and my 32 B tudor) which make the score even.
Thanks for the story Rik and i'm only kidding.:D
Luckely i still have some remaining of my own 41 Ford to look at, but the front also goes to Scandinavia (already sold)

Glad to know it's in the hands of someone who respects it for what it is. From the pics, it doesn't look like it needs to be restored, still looks pretty damn good if the last resto was in '72.

    Nice!

Lesson here is that if Rikster e-mails you an E-bay auction item, you might want to look at it.

    Good score!

    Palle - do it right.

Rikster. You need to contact Bob Drake about the 41. I visited him a couple of time at his home in Indiana. He can tell you all about his retoration and how he saved it in 72. A very nice guy and a hell of a builder.

  18. I have always loved this car since I first read about it.Congratulations to the new owner,it sounds like it is in good hands now.I wish I would of had the money when the auctions were here in L.A. , this car went so cheap,I couldn't believe it. At least there are still a few guy's out there who care about Kustoms and the history that goes along with it.I guess my point is ..... I have heard a lot of guys complaining(not on this thread) about how the car went overseas. All I have to say is .... anyone could of had it for under 25,000 at the auctions. Glad you have it Palle, good luck.

Thanks for scanning that article Cory...

It was in the third issue of Mark Morton's Hop Up magazine that an article in Street Rodder magazine was mentioned...

Now we just need to put "Rikster" behind the wheel of a "historic custom", of his very own! There is nobody, more deserving than you, in return for the preservation of custom car history, that you have achieved.

Thanks for the update Rik! I was really thrilled to hear about this car coming to Scandinavia! Palle, are you going to drive it around this summer before you starts to tear it down?
Also it would have been cool if you drove it around in white primer for a while.... just like in the good old days :)

Rik, did Jim Street remember when he sold the car, and to who he sold it? According to the Rod Action story Bob bought the car around 1958. So chances are it didn't have too many owners in between

  28. I would love to crush the pavement in that car while it is in white primer. I just cant get enough of this sled.

No Jim did not remember exactly when he sold the car. He told me it was a guy in Indiana, he forgot his name, but knew it was not Bob Drake. This "third" owner had a close encounter with the train. And according to Bob Drake (told by others) there was some alcohol and late hours involved. Apparently the whole front end was damaged badly. We are still looking for the early 70's Street Rodder article... which could confirm this with photos. We still have not been able to actually talk to Bob Drake.

The Motor Trend article on the 41 mentions that Jim now has the Golden Sahara (not named that then) under construction and that the 41 is for sale. I think shortly after that the car changed owners...

Old School Rodz magazine states that Bob Drake has owned the car since 1955... As soon as we know more... we will list it here.

btw... the car have been delivered at Palle's home safely!

Just read about this car in Hot Rod Deluxe. Something about these pictures you guys took really makes that car come alive in some different light. I have a new respect and appreciation for it, wish I couldve seen it in person.
