Anyone ever done anything with these? There are still plenty of them roaming the streets, and you can get them for very cheap. Lots of cl***ic style, flat gl***, and body on frame construction. http://www2.uol.com.br/bestcars/carros/cl***icos/london-cab-fairway-1.jpg
it's crazy how many of these have been produced. it seems like 99% of cars on the road in London are these. they get very well used, that's for sure. i don't really think they're that cool. kind of awkward looking.
I'm pretty sure there's been a couple done over here.No details unfortunately but I do remember one with a blown BBC(?) and narrowed rear.If I can find anything,I'll post it up. Mark.
Someone in the UK had one with a 500" Caddy motor in it and hydraulics. Probably not the best combo, but it got plenty of looks. I have heard that Special Forces in London had some fitted with Jaguar motors, as it was the most anonymous way to move around London quickly. May just be one of those stories though!
I've always thought these would make good fodder also. I'm not into the whole tubbed thing, but here's some I found: Change the grille, some side pipes, and a set of Astro's... I'd pimp it as a family cruiser.
I've said for a long time, if my life ever goes where I need a minivan for hauling kids' paraphernalia, an FX4 would be what I'd get before any "responsible" modern disposable. I'd put the biggest somewhat-breathed-upon turbodiesel four that would physically fit in. There's room for a Nissan FD46T at least.
